Panthers vs Blue Jackets Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Blue Jackets at -125. Our number and the market’s sit half a point apart, and the bar is 5.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are -125 and the Florida Panthers +105 at DraftKings. With the margin removed, that is a 53.2% chance for Columbus and 46.8% for Florida. Our number gives the Blue Jackets 53.7%. The gap is 0.5 points toward Columbus, and a side is a bet only when the gap is 5 points or more. Pass.
How the number is built
One clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, where a win in overtime or a shootout counts as a win. Games at a neutral site are left out of both.
The Blue Jackets went 20-13-8 at home, meaning 20 wins, 13 regulation losses and 8 losses after regulation. That is a 48.8% home win rate over 41 games. The Panthers went 17-23-1 on the road and lost 24 of 41, a 58.5% road loss rate. The average is 53.7% for Columbus, which leaves 46.3% for Florida.
Look at which half does the work. Columbus won fewer than half of its home games, 20 of 41. The Blue Jackets are the favourite in our number because Florida lost 24 of 41 on the road, and their own home record pulls the figure back toward even.
The margin is the few points a book builds into both prices so that they add to more than 100%. At -125 and +105 the two prices add to 104.3%. Removed, it leaves the Blue Jackets at 53.2% and the Panthers at 46.8%.
Two numbers half a point apart tell a bettor one thing: at -125 and +105 there is nothing to buy on either side. Agreement does not make either number right. Ours knows only last season’s home and road rates, 41 games for each team. No game from 2026-27 is in these figures, and nothing here measures what changed over the summer.
The Blue Jackets at home, the Panthers on the road
The Blue Jackets at home scored 3.29 goals a game and allowed 3.07, so they outscored visitors by 0.22 a game. The Panthers on the road scored 2.88 and allowed 3.73, outscored by 0.85 a game.
Home ice did nothing for Columbus in the win column. The Blue Jackets went 20-17-4 on the road, 20 wins in 41 games, the same 48.8% win rate as at home. The goals did move: on the road they scored 2.88 a game and allowed 3.10.
The Panthers changed more with the building. They went 23-14-3 at home, a 57.5% win rate over 40 games, against 17 wins in 41 on the road, which is 41.5%. One more Panthers game, a regulation loss, was played at a neutral site and is left out of both splits. The method uses only their road half.
The Blue Jackets finished 40-30-12 with 92 points and scored exactly as many goals as they allowed over 82 games. The Panthers finished 40-38-4 with 84 points and were outscored by 25. Neither team played in the playoffs.
Both teams won 40 games. The 8 points between them in the standings are losses after regulation, which pay a point each: 12 for Columbus and 4 for Florida. The Blue Jackets played 24 games that went past 60 minutes and won 12 of them. The Panthers played 12. In one-goal games Columbus went 18-13-12 and Florida 21-6-4.
The teams met three times in 2025-26 and the Panthers won two, both in overtime in Florida: 7-6 on 6 December and 2-1 on 12 March. The Blue Jackets won 4-2 in Columbus on 5 March. Three games prove nothing, and the method does not use them.
Pick: No bet on the Blue Jackets -125
Pass on the moneyline. The gap is 0.5 points toward Columbus, against a 5-point threshold.
The line opened at Blue Jackets -125 and Panthers +105 and had not moved when it was read. Read on 12 October 2026 at 15:53 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN, Columbus was -125 and Florida +105.
What changes it
A large move, and nothing smaller. The Blue Jackets become a bet at +106 or longer, whatever the Panthers are priced at, and they are -125 now. The Panthers become a bet at +143 or longer on the same terms, against +105 now.
Price is only one of the unknowns. This page states nothing about either lineup on 13 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 5.5, over -130 and under +110. The Blue Jackets’ games went over 5.5 in 48 of 82 and the Panthers’ in 50 of 82. Columbus’s home games averaged 6.36 goals, Florida’s road games 6.61.
The two over rates, 58.5% and 61.0%, average 59.8%. The over at -130 is priced at 54.3% with the margin removed. The gap is 5.5 points, built on the same last-season rates as the moneyline. Our method bets the moneyline only, so on the total a gap this size is a lean: over 5.5, at -130. It clears the 5-point bar by half a point.
The puck line has the Blue Jackets -1.5 at +195 and the Panthers +1.5 at -238, which is 32.5% and 67.5% once the margin is out. Columbus won by two goals or more in 22 of 82 games. Florida lost by two or more in 32 of 82. Averaged, Blue Jackets -1.5 lands 32.9% of the time against 32.5% priced. The gap is 0.4 points. Pass on the puck line, and the call on the game stays no bet at -125.
