Sharks vs Bruins Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Bruins moneyline. Our number has Boston winning 63.4% of the time at TD Garden, and the price already says 63.1%.
The Boston Bruins are -192 and the San Jose Sharks +160 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 63.1% for Boston and 36.9% for San Jose. Our figure is 63.4% and 36.6%. The gap is 0.3 points toward the Bruins, and the threshold for a bet is 5.
How 63.4% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins, and neutral-site games are left out of both rates. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points.
The Bruins went 29-11-1 at TD Garden, a 70.7% home win rate. The Sharks went 18-21-2 on the road, a 56.1% road loss rate once overtime and shootout losses are counted. Average the two and Boston is 63.4%, San Jose 36.6%. Against the price, that is 0.3 points. The measurement and the market agree to within a third of a point.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -192 and +160 they come to 104.2%. Taken out, the Bruins are 63.1% and the Sharks 36.9%.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. The Bruins are 8-2-1, 4-1-0 at home, and beat the Nashville Predators 6-0 at home on Thursday 22 October. Jeremy Swayman has played eight of their games and Michael DiPietro three. The Sharks are 6-4-1, 4-2-1 on the road, and won 6-2 at Ottawa the same night. Yaroslav Askarov has played seven of their games and Alex Nedeljkovic four. Both starts are outside the method.
Boston at home, San Jose on the road
Over the full season the Bruins at home scored 3.54 a game and allowed 2.56, a surplus of 0.98. The Sharks on the road scored 3.05 and allowed 3.66, a deficit of 0.61. These are the two halves our number uses, and they point the same way the price does.
The halves the method leaves out: Boston on the road went 16-16-8, a 40.0% win rate, scoring 3.05 and allowing 3.48. San Jose at home went 21-14-6, 51.2%, scoring 3.07 and allowing 3.46. The Bruins were a much weaker team away from TD Garden. That half is not in our number, and it does not need to be: this game is in Boston.
The season around it
The Bruins went 45-27-10 with 100 points in the Eastern Conference and outscored opponents by 22. They reached the playoffs and lost a series 2-4 to the Buffalo Sabres. The Sharks went 39-35-8 with 86 points in the Western Conference, were outscored by 41, and missed the playoffs.
San Jose’s record flatters it in close games. The Sharks went 22-5-8 in one-goal games and won 12 of the 20 that went past regulation. They also lost by two goals or more in 30 of 82. Boston went 20-8-10 in one-goal games, won 12 of 22 past 60 minutes, won by two or more 25 times and lost by two or more 19 times.
San Jose won both meetings in 2025-26. The 3-1 Sharks win in San Jose on Sunday 23 November 2025 is in neither half of our number. The 4-2 Sharks win in Boston on Thursday 12 March 2026 is in both: it counts in the Bruins’ home record and in the Sharks’ road record. Two games prove nothing on their own.
Pick: No bet
No bet on this game. The gap is 0.3 points toward the Bruins against a threshold of 5. The price is right.
The line read Bruins -192 and Sharks +160 on 24 October 2026 at 00:40 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at -185 and +154. Since the open the market gives the Bruins 0.8 points more, 63.1% against 62.2%, which moves the price closer to our number, not away from it.
What kills the bet
A longer Boston price makes the Bruins a bet. At -140 or longer they are a bet whatever San Jose is priced at; against the Sharks at +160, they become a bet at -117 or longer. They are -192.
For the Sharks to become the bet, they would have to be +216 or longer whatever Boston is priced at, or +229 or longer against the Bruins at -192. They are +160.
ESPN’s injury list has no Bruins on it. For San Jose it has Igor Chernyshov and Alexander Wennberg out with upper-body injuries, and Quentin Musty and goaltender Kyle Keyser on injured reserve, also upper-body. Keyser has not played for the Sharks this season, and Askarov has started seven of 11. None of these absences changes the method. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -112 and under -108. The Bruins’ games went over 6.5 in 42 of 82, and so did the Sharks’. Boston’s home games averaged 6.1 goals, San Jose’s road games 6.71.
That is 51.2% for the over on both sides, so our number is 51.2%. With the margin removed the over is priced at 50.4% and the under at 49.6%. The lean is to the over by 0.8 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Boston is -1.5 at +130 and San Jose +1.5 at -155, which is 41.7% and 58.3% without the margin. Over the full season the Bruins won by two goals or more in 25 of 82 games, and the Sharks lost by two or more in 30 of 82. Averaged, Bruins -1.5 lands 33.5% of the time against 41.7% priced, a gap of 8.2 points toward Sharks +1.5 at -155. That figure uses full-season margins, not the venue splits, and our method stakes the moneyline only. The moneyline is no bet, so this is a measurement, not a play. No bet on this game.
