Sharks vs Predators Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Sharks at +114. We lean San Jose by 2.1 points, less than half of what a bet needs.
The Nashville Predators are -135 and the San Jose Sharks +114 at DraftKings, which is 55.1% for Nashville and 44.9% for San Jose once the margin is gone. Our number makes it 53.0% and 47.0%. Same favourite, a slightly shorter price, and a gap of 2.1 points toward the Sharks. A side becomes a bet at 5.
The average behind 53.0%
We average two 2025-26 rates: how often the home team won at home, and how often the visitor lost on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins, and neutral-site games are left out of both.
Nashville went 20-17-3 at Bridgestone Arena, that is 20 wins, 17 regulation losses and 3 losses after regulation. Exactly 50.0% over 40 games. San Jose went 18-21-2 on the road and lost 23 of 41, a 56.1% road loss rate. Halfway between the two is 53.0% for the Predators, 47.0% for the Sharks.
Two Predators games are missing from that home record on purpose. Nashville played Pittsburgh twice at Avicii Arena, both neutral-site games, winning one in overtime and losing the other in regulation. They are in neither split.
At -135 and +114 the two prices add up to 104.2%. That extra over 100 is the book’s margin. Taken out, the Predators are at 55.1% and the Sharks at 44.9%.
So the book and our number tell much the same story, and the difference between them is small enough to be noise in a method this simple. Ours rests on 40 Nashville home games and 41 San Jose road games, all from last season. It has no 2026-27 game in it, and no view of either summer.
Nashville at home, San Jose away
The Predators at home scored 3.12 goals a game and allowed 3.27, outscored by 0.15 in their own building. The Sharks on the road scored 3.05 and allowed 3.66, behind by 0.61.
Nashville was a little better at home than away. On the road the Predators went 17-16-7, a 42.5% win rate over 40 games, scoring 3.00 a game and allowing 3.33.
San Jose split the same way and by a bit more. At home the Sharks went 21-14-6, winning 51.2%, against 43.9% on the road. They scored about the same anywhere, 3.07 at home and 3.05 away; what changed was the goals against, 3.46 at home and 3.66 on the road.
The two teams finished level on 86 points. Nashville got there at 38-34-10 and San Jose at 39-35-8: one more win for the Sharks, two more losses after regulation for the Predators. Nashville was outscored by 22 over the season and San Jose by 41. Neither reached the playoffs.
Both lived in close games. The Sharks went 22-5-8 in one-goal games and the Predators 20-8-10. Each played 20 games past 60 minutes; San Jose won 12 of them, Nashville 10.
The teams met three times in 2025-26 and Nashville won two of them, 6-3 at home on 24 March and 6-3 in San Jose on 4 April. The Sharks won the last one, 3-2 in Nashville on 13 April. The method does not count meetings as anything special, and three would not prove much if it did.
Both teams lost at home on Tuesday 13 October: the Predators 5-2 to Vegas and the Sharks 6-3 to Boston, both final per ESPN. Neither plays on Wednesday. The figures do not include those games.
Pick: No bet on the Sharks +114
Pass on the moneyline. The lean is San Jose, 47.0% against 44.9% priced, a gap of 2.1 points with the threshold at 5.
The line opened at Predators -135 and Sharks +114 and was the same when it was read on 14 October 2026 at 15:56 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
The prices that would make it a bet
San Jose becomes a bet at +139 or longer, whatever Nashville is priced at. That is 25 cents from +114.
Nashville would need to be +109 or longer, which would mean the favourite becoming the underdog.
Neither price says anything about the lineups, and this page states nothing about who plays for either team on 15 October. Check them before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -102 and under -118. Nashville’s games went over 6.5 in 35 of 82 and San Jose’s in 42 of 82. The Predators’ home games averaged 6.39 goals and the Sharks’ road games 6.71.
That is 42.7% and 51.2%, or 47.0% averaged. The over at -102 is priced at 48.3% with the margin removed. The gap is 1.3 points toward the under. Pass on the total.
On the puck line the Predators are -1.5 at +190 and the Sharks +1.5 at -230: 33.1% and 66.9% without the margin. Nashville won by two goals or more in 18 of 82 games, and San Jose lost by two or more in 30 of 82. Averaged, Predators -1.5 comes in 29.3% of the time against 33.1% priced, a gap of 3.8 toward Sharks +1.5. That is the moneyline lean again, and it is short of 5 again. Pass, and the call stays no bet at +114.
