Chelsea vs Everton Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet Chelsea at +115. The bet holds down to -102.
DraftKings prices Everton at +215, the draw at +275 and Chelsea at +115. Take out the book’s 4.9% margin and the market gives Everton 30.3%, the draw 25.4% and Chelsea 44.3%. Our number has Chelsea winning 53.3% of the time, the draw at 21.9% and Everton at 24.8%.
That puts Chelsea 9.0 points above the market. Everton sit 5.5 below it and the draw 3.5 below. The method bets an outcome when our chance beats the market’s by 5 points or more, and Chelsea clear that bar by 4.0.
Chelsea are the favourite on both numbers here. The difference is size: +115 pays as if they win 44.3% of the time, and our number puts them past half.
Where the number comes from
Each side’s expected goals are its scoring rate at the venue multiplied by the other side’s conceding rate at the opposite venue, both set against the league average. A Poisson distribution, the usual count model for goals, turns the pair into chances for a home win, a draw and an away win.
Everton have 3 home games this season and Chelsea 3 away. The method wants 6 at the venue before it trusts the current season, so both halves come from 2025-26: Everton’s 19 home games and Chelsea’s 19 away games, measured against that season’s averages of 1.53 goals a game for the home side and 1.22 for the visitor, across 380 games.
At home last season Everton went 6-5-8, scoring 1.37 a game and conceding 1.42. Chelsea went 7-5-7 on the road with 1.68 scored and 1.42 conceded. Set against the averages, Everton scored at 0.90 of the home rate and Chelsea conceded at 0.93 of it. Chelsea’s away scoring ran at 1.38 times the visitor’s rate, and Everton allowed goals at 1.16 times it. Multiplied through, Everton get 1.27 expected goals and Chelsea 1.96.
The table, now and last season
Six games in, the two sides are level on 10 points. Everton are 5th and unbeaten at 2-4-0, with 8 scored and 5 conceded. Chelsea are 6th at 3-1-2, with 15 scored and 13 conceded. Last season Chelsea finished 10th on 52 points and Everton 13th on 49.
The argument against the bet is this season’s venue split. Everton are 2-1-0 at home, scoring 5 and conceding 2. Chelsea are 1-0-2 away, with 4 scored and 7 let in. Three games at a venue sit below the method’s floor, so the number ignores them; they are the reason this is a price bet and not a confident one.
Pick: Chelsea +115
Chelsea to win at +115, the DraftKings price. It stays a bet down to -102. At a shorter price than that, with the margin where it is now, the gap drops under 5 points.
What changes it
The price first. Chelsea are a bet to -102. The draw would turn into a bet at +464 or longer, and Everton at +382 or longer.
Then the team sheets. This page says nothing about who plays on 17 October, so read the team news before betting.
The total
The total is 2.5 goals, over -145 and under +120. Without the margin the market makes the over 56.6% and the under 43.4%. Ours puts the over at 62.6% and the under at 37.4%, a lean shown for reference only, since the method stakes the result alone.
All 6 of Chelsea’s league games this season have gone over 2.5, against 2 of Everton’s 6. Last season the figures were 25 of 38 for Chelsea and 17 of 38 for Everton.
The last meetings
ESPN holds five meetings since April 2024. Chelsea won three of them, 6-0, 1-0 and 2-0, each with Chelsea listed as the home side. With Everton listed at home, the teams drew 0-0 in December 2024 and Everton won 3-0 in March 2026. The method does not use these results.
