Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Take Tottenham Hotspur at +340. Our prediction gives them 42.8% to win at Stamford Bridge, and the market gives them 21.7%.
DraftKings lists Chelsea at -140, the draw at +320 and Tottenham Hotspur at +340. A book builds a margin into its prices so that the two sides and the draw add to more than 100%. Here that margin is 4.9%. Take it out and the market reads Chelsea 55.6%, the draw 22.7% and Tottenham 21.7%.
We have Chelsea at 31.6%, the draw at 25.6% and Tottenham at 42.8%. Against the market that is Chelsea 24.0 points lower, the draw 2.9 higher and Tottenham 21.1 higher. Our rule is a bet when our chance is at least 5 points above the market’s. Only Tottenham clears it.
How 42.8% is reached
Each side’s expected goals start from the league’s average goals at that venue. That figure is then scaled by the side’s scoring rate at its own venue and by the opponent’s conceding rate at the other venue, each measured against the league average. A Poisson model on the two expected-goal figures turns them into home, draw and away.
Chelsea have played 3 home games this season and Tottenham 3 away. That is too few to replace a full year, so the number runs on 2025-26, against that season’s averages over 380 games: 1.53 goals for the home side and 1.22 for the visitor.
Chelsea at home last season went 7-5-7 (wins, draws, losses) in 19, scoring 1.37 a game and conceding 1.32. Their scoring was 0.9 of the league’s home rate, and their conceding was 1.08 of the league’s away rate. Tottenham on the road also went 7-5-7 in 19, scoring 1.37 and conceding 1.37. That is 1.12 of the league’s away scoring rate, and their conceding was 0.9 of the home rate.
The result is 1.23 expected goals for Chelsea and 1.47 for Tottenham. The model sees the visitor as the slightly better side on last season’s venue splits, and the market sees the opposite.
What is not in the number
The start to 2026-27 points the other way, and the model does not see it. Chelsea are 4th with 13 points from 4-1-2, 17 scored and 13 conceded. Tottenham are 16th with 6 points from 1-3-3, 6 scored and 10 conceded. Last season Chelsea finished 10th on 52 points and Tottenham 17th on 41.
At Stamford Bridge this season Chelsea are 2-1-0, 11 scored and 6 conceded, which is 3.67 and 2.00 a game. Tottenham’s three away games are 0-2-1, with 1 scored and 4 conceded, or 0.33 and 1.33 a game. That is a poor start for the visitor and a sharp one for the home side. It is also three games each, against 19 each last season. A gap of 21.1 points should make you check the inputs, and the input here is a season-old split. We keep it because three games prove nothing about either team, and 19 are what we have.
Pick: Tottenham Hotspur +340
Tottenham Hotspur +340 at DraftKings, read 22 October 2026 at 21:19 UTC. The edge is 21.1 points against a 5-point threshold. This is a bet on Tottenham to win the game outright, so a draw loses.
The call is built on the splits and the price, and the early-season form does not enter it. Tottenham stay a bet at +153 or longer. At +340 the price sits far above that line.
What kills the bet
The price is the first thing. Below +153 the gap falls under 5 points and the call becomes no bet.
The other two outcomes are further from a bet. Chelsea would need +259 or longer, against -140 now. The draw needs +363 or longer, against +320 now, and its gap today is 2.9 points. Each of those assumes the 4.9% margin holds.
The sample is the second. Once this season’s home and away records are large enough, the method moves off 2025-26, and the number will move with them. Chelsea’s 3.67 goals a game at home would pull it toward the home side.
The team sheets are the third. This page says nothing about who is available on 24 October; check the lineups before you bet.
The total
The total is 3.5 goals, over +125 and under -155. Without the margin the market has the over at 42.2% and the under at 57.8%. Our number has the over at 28.6% and the under at 71.4%, a gap of -13.6 points on the over. We never bet the goals, so this is for reference. Our chance of more than 2.5 goals is 50.6%.
This season 4 of Chelsea’s 7 league games went over 3.5, and 2 of Tottenham’s 7. Over 2.5 it is 6 of 7 for Chelsea and 3 of 7 for Tottenham. Last season it was 12 of 38 over 3.5 for Chelsea and 10 of 38 for Tottenham.
The last meetings
We hold five meetings since May 2024, and Chelsea won all five. At Stamford Bridge they won 2-1 on Tuesday 19 May 2026, 1-0 on Thursday 3 April 2025 and 2-0 on Thursday 2 May 2024. At Tottenham’s ground they won 1-0 on Saturday 1 November 2025 and 4-3 on Sunday 8 December 2024.
That is a record the market respects, and our method does not use it. The number comes from venue scoring and conceding rates, so those five results are not an input.
