Atalanta vs AC Milan Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet Atalanta to win at +300. It stays a bet down to +159.
Our Atalanta vs AC Milan prediction starts with the DraftKings prices: Milan -130, the draw +270, Atalanta +300. Those three prices hold an 8.5% margin. Take it out and the market gives Milan 52.1%, the draw 24.9% and Atalanta 23.0%. Our model has Milan at 32.2%, the draw at 27.2% and Atalanta at 40.6%.
That leaves the market 17.6 points short on Atalanta and 2.3 points short on the draw, while it rates Milan 19.9 points higher than we do. Our bar for a bet is 5 points of daylight between our chance and the market’s. Atalanta clear it by more than three times that; the draw does not reach it.
An away underdog with that much daylight deserves suspicion before money. It comes entirely from last season’s venue records, laid out in the next section, while this season’s few games at the venue point the other way. The page follows the method and says where it could be wrong.
How we get to 40.6%
Each side gets an expected-goals figure from two rates set against the league average: how it scored at this venue, and how its opponent conceded at the other one. A Poisson model converts those two figures into the chances of each result.
Neither team has enough games at the venue this season. Milan have played 2 league games at home and Atalanta 2 away, and the method waits for 6 before it uses 2026-27 numbers. So the rates are from 2025-26: Milan’s 19 home games and Atalanta’s 19 away games, measured against that season’s averages over 380 games: 1.28 goals a game by home teams, 1.15 by visitors.
Last season Milan went 9-5-5 at home (wins, draws, losses), with 1.32 goals scored and 1.11 conceded a game. Atalanta were 6-8-5 on the road, scoring 1.37 and conceding 1.11. Set against the averages, Milan scored at 1.03 of the home rate and Atalanta conceded at 0.87 of it. In the other direction Atalanta scored at 1.19 times the away rate and Milan conceded at 0.96 of it. That gives Atalanta 1.32 expected goals and Milan 1.14.
Milan’s home numbers were the weaker half of their season: away from San Siro they went 11-5-3 and conceded 0.74 a game. The method uses the venue each side plays at on Sunday, so it is the home record that counts here.
Where the two sides stand
Milan are 5th after 6 games, unbeaten at 3-3-0, with 11 scored, 5 conceded and 12 points. They also finished 5th last season, on 70 points. Atalanta are 10th with 9 points from 3-0-3, 8 scored and 8 conceded, after a 7th-place finish on 59.
This season’s venue samples point the other way, and they are the main argument against the bet. Milan are 2-0-0 at San Siro, 5 scored and none conceded. Atalanta have lost both away games, scoring 1 and conceding 4. Two games each is too few for the method to use, but it is not nothing, and squads change over a summer in ways a number built on last season cannot see.
Pick: Atalanta +300
Atalanta to win, at +300 at DraftKings. It remains a bet down to +159. Any shorter, at today’s margin, and Atalanta’s edge drops under the 5-point bar: no bet.
What changes it
The price comes first. Atalanta are a bet to +159. The draw would turn into one at +316 or longer, and Milan at +239 or longer.
The teams come second. Nothing on this page says who plays on 18 October. Check the team news before betting.
The total
DraftKings sets the line at 2.5 goals, over -135 and under +110. Without the margin that is 54.7% over and 45.3% under. Our number has the over at 44.4% and the under at 55.6%, so it leans to the under by 10.3 points. The method bets on the result only, so the total is here for reference and is not a pick.
Over 2.5 landed in 17 of Milan’s 38 league games last season and 14 of Atalanta’s 38.
The last meetings
ESPN lists five meetings since February 2024: three Atalanta wins, two draws and no Milan win. The latest, in May 2026, ended 3-2 to Atalanta with Milan listed as the home side. The method does not use them.
