Virginia vs. NC State Prediction: ACC Rivals Collide in Non-Conference Clash
The Virginia Cavaliers and NC State Wolfpack meet Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, NC, in what is technically a non-conference matchup between two ACC programs. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM ET.
Both teams are looking to build on strong season-opening wins. Virginia (1-0) cruised past Coastal Carolina 48-7, while NC State (1-0) outlasted in-state rival East Carolina 24-17 on Aug. 28, giving the Wolfpack a few extra days of rest and preparation.

Receiver Cam Ross exploded in Week 1 with 124 yards, a touchdown catch, and a kickoff return touchdown, giving Virginia a versatile weapon. Defensively, the Cavaliers impressed by limiting Coastal Carolina to just 7 points, showcasing the impact of their portal additions.

The Wolfpack Can Win If…
NC State leans on its young talent. Five true freshmen saw action in the opener, and head coach Dave Doeren expects growth from them in Week 2. The Wolfpack defense held ECU to 17 points, and their offense got timely contributions despite some inconsistency.
Receiver Noah Rogers, cleared after a hard hit last week, will be a key target after logging two catches in the opener. If the Wolfpack establish rhythm early, their balanced approach and home-field advantage could tilt the game.

Betting Outlook
NC State enters as a 4.5-point favorite at home, with my model projecting a 27-21 Wolfpack win. Virginia’s passing attack provides a path to the upset, but NC State’s defense and depth should prevail late.
At a total of 52.5, the under is the lean. Both defenses looked sharp in Week 1, and with Virginia’s QB not at 100%, points may be tougher to come by.
