Inter Miami CF vs Atlanta United FC Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet Inter Miami CF at -110. The bet holds down to -204.
DraftKings has Atlanta United FC at +215, the draw at +320 and Inter Miami CF at -110. Take out the book’s margin of 7.9% and the market gives Atlanta 29.4%, the draw 22.1% and Miami 48.5%. Our number gives Atlanta 16.2%, the draw 16.5% and Miami 67.3%.
Miami sit 18.8 points above the market. The draw is 5.6 points below it and Atlanta 13.2 below. An outcome is a bet when our chance is 5 points or more above the market’s, and the widest gap is the bet. Miami clear that threshold by 13.8 points.
Our last two Miami calls lost
The two previous pages on Miami’s games both bet against them at home. New York City FC at +400 on 14 October lost when Miami won 2-0, and D.C. United at +500 on 10 October lost when Miami won 4-0.
This call goes the other way, and it rests on a different record. Those two games were played in Miami, so they moved Miami’s home numbers. Today’s number uses Miami’s away record, which neither game touched.
How the number is built
The method in one sentence: a side’s expected goals are its scoring rate at the venue multiplied by the opponent’s conceding rate at the opposite venue, each taken relative to the league average, and a Poisson distribution (the standard model for counting goals) converts the two figures into the chance of a home win, a draw and an away win.
Both records are this season’s. Atlanta have played 14 home games in the 2026 MLS season and Miami 14 away, and the method uses the current season once a side has 6 games at the venue. The league averages cover 435 games: 1.86 goals a game for the home side and 1.40 for the visitor.
Atlanta are 4-2-8 at home (wins, draws, defeats) with 20 scored and 26 conceded, which is 1.43 a game for and 1.86 against. Miami are 8-3-3 away with 29 scored and 24 conceded, 2.07 for and 1.71 against. Atlanta score at 0.77 times the league’s home rate and Miami concede at 0.92 times it. Miami score at 1.47 times the away rate and Atlanta concede at 1.32 times it. That gives Atlanta 1.32 expected goals and Miami 2.74.
Two records carry the number. Miami score 2.07 a game on the road, above the league’s home average of 1.86, and Atlanta have lost 8 of their 14 home games. Atlanta’s home attack is the other half: 20 goals in 14 home games.
The table, this season and last
Atlanta are 14th of 15 in the Eastern Conference after 29 games: 8 wins, 6 draws, 15 defeats, 36 scored, 48 conceded, 30 points. They finished 14th in the East in 2025 with 28 points from 34 games. Miami are 2nd of 15 with 52 points from 29 games: 14 wins, 10 draws, 5 defeats, 70 scored and 50 conceded. In 2025 they finished 3rd in the East with 65 points.
The case against the bet starts with the last meeting. Atlanta drew 2-2 in Miami on 5 September, and they won 3-0 at CF Montréal on 14 October. In November 2024 they knocked Miami out of the playoffs in Round One, winning the last two games of the series.
Last season’s records do not change the side. Atlanta went 4-8-5 at home in 2025 and Miami 8-5-4 away, and run on those numbers the method still puts Miami more than 5 points above today’s market. The gap is smaller than this season’s 18.8, and it is still a bet.
Pick: Inter Miami CF -110
Bet Inter Miami CF to win, at -110 with DraftKings. This is the three-way result, so a draw loses the bet.
The price can shorten to -204 before the gap falls under 5 points, with the book’s margin as it stands. Shorter than -204, it is no bet.
What changes it
The price. Miami stay a bet down to -204. The draw becomes a bet at +706 or longer, against +320 now. Atlanta become one at +728 or longer, against +215 now.
The lineups. This page states nothing about who is available on 17 October, and the method reads results only. A gap this wide can come from something the results do not show, such as who plays. Check the team news before you bet.
The total
The total is 3.5 goals, with the over at -125 and the under at +100. With the margin removed the market has the over at 52.6% and the under at 47.4%. Our number has the over at 57.8% and the under at 42.2%, a gap of 5.2 points on the over. It is reference only: the method bets the result and never the total.
Miami’s games have gone over 3.5 in 18 of 29 this season. Atlanta’s have in 11 of 29.
The last meetings
ESPN holds five meetings since November 2024. Each side won two and one was drawn. Atlanta’s two wins came in the 2024 playoffs: 2-1 at home on 2 November and 3-2 in Miami on 9 November. Miami won 2-1 in Atlanta on 16 March 2025 and 4-0 at home on 11 October 2025.
The draw is the most recent, 2-2 in Miami on 5 September 2026. The method does not use any of the five.
