Canada’s Phil Wizard won the first Olympic men’s breaking gold at Paris 2024, beating France’s Dany Dann 3-0 in the final, 23 judges’ votes to 4, at the Place de la Concorde on August 10, 2024. Breaking is not on the program for the Los Angeles 2028 Games, so there is no next Olympic men’s breaking event to bet on.
The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) says it is working to bring breaking back for Brisbane 2032. Until then, this page holds the Paris result as the record.
The Paris 2024 men’s podium
| Medal | B-Boy | Country |
|---|---|---|
| Gold | Phil Wizard | Canada |
| Silver | Dany Dann | France |
| Bronze | Victor | United States |
Olympics.com described the four semifinalists as arguably the four best B-Boys in the world. Wizard beat Japan’s Shigekix 3-0 in the semifinals, and Shigekix then lost the bronze battle to Victor, who came to Paris as the reigning world champion.
Wizard named his quarterfinal against Lee of the Netherlands as his hardest battle of the day. He told Olympics.com he had expected to lose to him.
Why breaking is not at LA28
Each host city can add sports for its own Games on top of the core program, and the WDSF’s statement on the decision says the choice was the LA28 organizing committee’s alone. Paris picked breaking, skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing. Los Angeles picked baseball-softball, cricket, flag football, lacrosse and squash, and the official LA28 sports list has no breaking event.
The WDSF’s case for a return rests on a precedent. Baseball-softball was at Tokyo 2020, missed Paris 2024 and is back for LA28.
Breaking events still to come in 2026
With no Olympic event until 2032 at the earliest, the WDSF calendar lists three breaking competitions before the end of 2026:
- Asian Games: breaking in Nagoya, Japan, October 2 and 3, 2026
- Youth Olympic Games: breaking in Dakar, Senegal, November 12 and 13, 2026
- WDSF World Championships: Adidas Arena, Paris, December 4 to 6, 2026
This page names no price for them. If a market appears, turn the price into a chance first: +250 implies 28.6% and +800 implies 11.1%.
