It’s a twenty-plus year tradition with a new name. The tournament often referred to as the Father-Son Challenge is now the PNC Championship. Why? Because it is now played by a wide mix of professional PGA and ChampionTour Pros and their sons, daughters, fathers, stepchildren, and inlaws.

The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes, was designed by Greg Norman and is relatively flat with open fairways at first glance. The layout makes full use of natural Florida beauty including white sand bunkers, natural areas, fairway ponds as well as natural wetlands.
The trees are a mix of oaks, pine, and cypress. While being designed by Norman, it is not a typical “PGA Tournament grade” venue. The course is on a resort and is geared more towards enjoyable golf for visitors. A perfect venue for this type of tournament.
Sadly, due to COVID-19 restrictions, this will once again be a tournament without fans. This is even more of a shame in this case due to the pro golfer and family member format. Still, it was designed by Greg Norman – two-time Open Champ – so he made sure that hazards were well placed to protect landing areas and greens.

It’s hard to go against Justin Thomas in any tournament. Then, add in the fact that his dad Mike is a great golfer in his own right. Mike Thomas is a PGA Teaching Professional and considered to be one of the best… after all, his son is Justin Thomas!
Team Woods +650
This is a “wish” pick as I hope this team has a great weekend! Tiger Woods will be playing with his eleven-year-old son Charlie. Woods may have to carry the load, and if he does that may be enough to win the event if there is a Thomas stumble.
Team Daly +2000
I don’t get to pick John Daly often so here goes… I really like Team Daly at +2000. Daly, now a seasoned veteran player, can still smack a ball like the best of them. Plus, one a course like this he should be able to rack up some birdies. The other factor is his son John “Little John” Daly who is already a great golfer and set to play for his dad’s alma mater the University of Arkansas.
