The 2022 MLB season rolls along on Monday, and there is a pretty big slate of games to begin the week. MLB games provide some really good betting value, especially if you are looking to make a wager on some underdogs.
There are a couple of big underdogs set to take the field on Monday, but focusing on some smaller underdogs is a better way to go. Here is a look at three of the top MLB underdog picks for Monday, June 27th.
Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Guardians
Best Bet: Guardians ML (+110)
The Cleveland Guardians are slight underdogs at home against the Minnesota Twins as the top two teams in the AL Central Division are set to begin a series. Both teams have been better than expected this season, as they both try to stay ahead of the Chicago White Sox.
This starting pitching matchup appears to favor the Twins slightly as Sonny Gray has gone 3-1 with a 2.53 ERA this season. Cleveland will have Triston McKenzie on the mound on Monday night, though, and he has pitched well also.
Jose Ramirez continues to put up monster numbers for the Guardians as he leads the team with 16 home runs and 63 RBIs. The Twins rely on the long ball, but McKenzie should be able to keep them in the yard.
Cleveland needs to do some damage at home against the Twins, and they win the series opener at +110.
Miami Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Best Bet: Marlins ML (+115)
The Miami Marlins are in St. Louis to begin the week for a matchup with the Cardinals. Miami is just 33-38 on the year, while the Cardinals are 41-34.
It has been frustrating watching the Marlins this season because they have a dominant starting staff but just haven’t been able to win games. Pablo Lopez starts in this game, and he is 5-3 with a 2.61 ERA.
Veteran Adam Wainwright starts for the Cardinals, a team that just lost two of three games at home to the struggling Chicago Cubs. St. Louis has some hitters in the lineup that are going through a bit of a slump, and that’s going to impact this game.
Lopez can be dominant, and he pitches the Marlins (+115) to a win.
Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels
Best Bet: White Sox ML (+118)
There have been plenty of disappointing teams in Major League Baseball this season, but none bigger than the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels. These teams will begin a series on Monday, and the White Sox are underdogs on the road.
Chicago snapped a four-game losing streak with a win on Sunday, and that lineup is going to break out of a season-long slump at some point. Lucas Giolito starts on Monday night, and he is much better than his 4-4 record with a 5.40 ERA.
Noah Syndergaard will oppose Giolito, and he is well past his glory days with the New York Mets. Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani have combined for 38 home runs on the year, but there are some holes in that lineup.
Giolito will shut down the Angels, and the White Sox (+118) will win this battle.
