NCAA Basketball: 2021 Big 12 Tournament Odds and Picks

It is Championship Week in men’s college basketball and one of the most popular postseason conference tournaments on the betting board is the Big 12. Opening round action from T-Mobile Center in Kansas City is set for Wednesday, March 10. The championship game will be played on Saturday, March 13.

Also one of college basketball’s top power conferences, the Big 12 boasts seven teams ranked nationally, including the Baylor Bears as the No. 2 team in the country. The Bears won the regular season title but the competition for the conference tournament title should be fierce in a single-elimination format.

Baylor Odds-On to Win Big 12 Tournament

As far as betting on the tournament winner, Baylor has been opened as an odds-on -150 favorite. This makes perfect sense given what this team has already accomplished this season. The Bears come into this week’s tournament with a straight-up 13-1 record in conference play. They are 21-1 overall.

The lone loss came against the Kansas Jayhawks on the road. Baylor has been dominant on both ends of the court this season with an offensive effort that is scoring an average of 85.3 points per game. Defensively, the Bears are holding opposing teams to 65.6 PPG.

You cannot go wrong going chalk on Baylor as the favorite given just how dominant this team has been all season long. However, if you are looking to stretch the odds for more betting value, Kansas would be the best way to go as a +450 second-favorite. The Kansas Jayhawks are also the No. 2 seed this week to gain an easier path to the title game.

March Madness Predictions

Kansas appears to be finding its top playing form at the right time of the year. Its biggest win was on Feb. 27 in a 13-point stunner against Baylor as a 4.5-point home underdog. The Jayhawks shook off a very shaky 3-5 record in January to win eight of its final 10 games. Cashing a winning ticket betting the Big 12 Tournament winner will most likely come down to a Baylor vs. Kansas rematch.

Next on the Big 12 futures betting board at +750 odds is a trio of teams starting with the Texas Longhorns as the tournament’s No. 3 seed. They bring a SU three-game winning streak into Thursday’s quarterfinal matchup against the No. 6 Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Texas won all three of those games on the road to finish 11-6 in conference play. It also swept Kansas in the regular season. One drain on the Longhorns’ value is a pair of losses to Texas Tech in the season series.

The Red Raiders also have +750 odds to win along with the No. 4 West Virginia Mountaineers. Texas Tech has had some issues with consistency down the stretch at 3-4 over its last seven games. Getting past Texas three times in one season is another concern.

West Virginia will face No. 5 Oklahoma State (+1000) in Thursday’s quarterfinal round coming off a season-ending loss to the Cowboys. The winner of that game will most likely face Baylor in the semifinals to drain value out of each of these team’s odds to win.
