You have to feel bad for the Buffalo Sabres. They are already the worst team in the NHL, having long beaten back the enthusiastic arguments put forth in places like Detroit, Ottawa and Anaheim. They’ve already fired their coach, but did they even have a choice? And things keep getting worse and worse.
It’s at the point where it looks like it might be better if the Sabres went with six attackers and an empty net. They are down to their fourth goaltender. Or is it the fifth?

And we’re not even at the trade deadline yet. Buffalo will most definitely be a “seller,” and might even deal away their best player, who is currently unavailable.
The atmosphere doesn’t necessarily support an optimal effort, on ANY night. That’s what we’re looking at as Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins approaches.
We’re going to take advantage of this situation at HRWager.
Hera are the particulars:
Buffalo Sabres vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Picks

Don Granato came into a rough situation as an interim coach, and it has continued. The Sabres have rattled; they are losers of 14 straight games, twelve of which were in regulation. And a loss on Wednesday will confirm the longest losing streak in franchise history.
Buffalo is 6-20-4 with 16 points, and they have a minus-42 goal differential. They are currently playing without their captain, Jack Eichel, who is sitting with a neck injury. Forwards Tobias Rieder and Kyle Okposo are also out with injuries.
There are numerous players who are the subject of trade rumors in advance of the April 12 deadline. Eichel is one of them, along with Sam Reinhart, Taylor Hall and others.
That’s why to say they may be going through their most difficult stretch to date may be a heavy statement.

Goaltender Linas Ullmark has missed thirteen games with a lower body injury, and even though he has returned to practice, there’s no telling when he’ll be able to play in a game. Carter Hutton also has a lower body injury, suffered on Monday night against the Rangers. So he is out. The Sabres already dealt away their third-string goalie, Jonas Johansson, who had made six starts.
So getting his first start since December 2015 will be Dustin Tokarski, who jumped into Monday’s game after Hutton’s injury and was scored upon four times. And recent signee Michael Houser, a career minor leaguer, is the backup. Honestly, these guys are lucky they didn’t have to pull a guy out of the stands to fill in.
And so now come the Penguins, minus Evegni Malkin but with Sidney Crosby very much front and center, with twelve goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 31 games. They’ve lost three of their last four games, but won their previous six, tallying 25 goals in the process. And they have easily taken the first two meetings, winning by scores of 5-2 and 3-0 in Buffalo on March 11th and 13th.
During this 14-game losing streak, Buffalo has suffered ten losses by two or more goals. On the season, sixteen of the Sabres’ 20 losses have been by two or more.
So we’ve got some history on our side.
Under the circumstances, you’ve got a reasonable price by which to make a move with the puck line.
