UFC 285 is on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There are two title fights scheduled. Jon Jones will fight Ciryl Gane in the main event for the heavyweight title and Valentina Shevchenko will fight Alexa Grasso for the women’s flyweight title.
The prelims will start at 9:00 PM ET and the main card will begin at 11:00 PM ET.
Jones vs. Gane Predictions
Fight Odds: Jones (-155) vs. Gane (+135)
Jones (26-1-0-1) hasn’t fought since February 2020. His last three fights were won by decision against Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes. Will he be able to handle Gane (11-1)?
Gane is 6-1 since joining the UFC in 2019. His lone loss is against Francis Ngannou by decision. He’s coming off a KO win against Tai Tuivasa and will be able to hold his own in the striking department.
Gane averages 5.11 SLpM and 2.25 SApM, while Jones averages 4.30 SLpM and 2.22 SApM.
Jones will want to take Gane to the mat, but Jones only has 44% takedown accuracy. He’ll have a 3” reach advantage in this fight, but Gane has a lot of power and has never been finished.
Best Bet: Gane ML (+135)
Shevchenko vs. Grasso Predictions
Fight Odds: Shevchenko (-600) vs. Grasso (+450)
Shevchenko (23-3) is on a 9-0 run. Since losing to Amanda Nunes in 2017, Shevchenko hasn’t lost a fight and she has finished five of her nine opponents. Grasso (15-3) is on a four-fight win streak.
It’s unlikely Shevchenko will struggle with Grasso. Grasso is an active striker (5.14 SLpM), but she takes a lot of damage as well (4.02 SApM). Shevchenko averages 3.19 SLpM and just 1.90 SApM.
Shevchenko also averages 2.53 takedowns per 15 minutes (64% accuracy). Grasso doesn’t have the power to surprise the champion and Shevchenko will have an edge on the mat.
My best bet is over 2.5 rounds. Five of Shevchenko’s last six fights have started the third round. Grasso has been tapped once, but never knocked out. I like Shevchenko to win in the later rounds.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 Rounds (-125)
Neal vs. Rakhmonov Predictions
Fight Odds: Neal (+400) vs. Rakhmonov (-500)
Two top ten welterweights also meet on the main card, as Geoff Neal (#7) fights Shavkat Rakhmonov (#9). Neal (15-4) is 2-2 since 2020, but he has won his last two consecutive fights.
Rakhmonov (16-0) is 4-0 in the UFC and coming off a win against Neil Magny. Rakhmonov has finished all 16 of his opponents and only a single fight has entered the third round.
It’s likely Rakhmonov will take this fight to the mat. He averages 2.31 takedowns per 15 minutes (50% accuracy). He also averages 1.7 submission attempts per 15 minutes.
Neal is a tough fighter to finish, but Rakhmonov hasn’t given me a reason to bet against him.
Best Bet: Rakhmonov ITD (-130)
