The 2027 U.S. Open is at Pebble Beach Golf Links, with rounds from Thursday, June 17 to Sunday, June 20, and it is the major where par is the target: six of the last seven winners finished between 1 and 6 under. Wyndham Clark defends after winning at Shinnecock Hills at 4 under, one shot ahead of Sam Burns.
The 2027 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach
ESPN’s 2027 schedule has the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California from June 17 to 20, the third major of the year after the Masters from April 8 to 11 and the PGA Championship from May 20 to 23. The Open at St Andrews follows from July 15.
The last U.S. Open at Pebble Beach was in 2019. Gary Woodland won at 13 under, 271, three shots ahead of Brooks Koepka, with Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, Chez Reavie and Justin Rose tied for third at 7 under. That is the furthest under par of any U.S. Open winner from 2019 to 2026.
How Shinnecock was won in 2026
| Finish | Player | Score | Rounds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Wyndham Clark | -4 | 64-69-70-73 |
| 2 | Sam Burns | -3 | 71-68-71-67 |
| 3 | Tom Kim | -1 | 70-67-72-70 |
| T4 | J.T. Poston | E | 71-71-71-67 |
| T4 | Keith Mitchell | E | 70-70-70-70 |
| T4 | Scottie Scheffler | E | 72-68-69-71 |
Clark opened with a 64, led by four after 36 holes and by six after 54, at 7 under. He shot 73 on Sunday and won by one, because Burns closed with a 67. A six-shot lead with 18 holes left was worth exactly one shot at the end.
Shinnecock played as a par 70 at 7,440 yards. 156 players started and 72 played all four rounds. Clark also won in 2023 at Los Angeles Country Club, so he has two of the last four U.S. Opens.
The winning score, year by year
| Year | Winner | Course | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Wyndham Clark | Shinnecock Hills | -4 |
| 2025 | J.J. Spaun | Oakmont | -1 |
| 2024 | Bryson DeChambeau | Pinehurst No. 2 | -6 |
| 2023 | Wyndham Clark | Los Angeles CC | -10 |
| 2022 | Matt Fitzpatrick | The Country Club | -6 |
| 2021 | Jon Rahm | Torrey Pines South | -6 |
| 2020 | Bryson DeChambeau | Winged Foot | -6 |
Spaun’s 1 under at Oakmont in 2025 was the only 72-hole total under par that week; Robert MacIntyre was second at 1 over. That is the U.S. Open in one line. When par is a good score, a winning-score prop or a player’s round-score line has to be read against the setup, and under 71.5 on a par-70 course wins with a 71, one over par.
The U.S. Open bets you can make
Our golf betting guide covers each market in full; these are the ones most books post for the U.S. Open.
- Outright: the player who wins the tournament.
- Each-way: a win bet and a place bet of the same size, the place half paid at a fraction of the odds.
- Top finish: a top-5, top-10 or top-20 finish.
- Matchups and three-balls: which of two or three players scores lower.
- First-round leader: who leads after 18 holes.
- Winning score: over or under a line on the champion’s total against par.
The numbers worth checking
Our view: accuracy and damage control matter more at a U.S. Open than distance. Three statistics measure them:
- Fairways hit: fairways found off the tee on par 4s and par 5s. Nine of 14 chances is 64.3%.
- Strokes gained around the green: shots gained on chips, pitches and bunker shots against the field average.
- Bogey avoidance: the share of holes a player finishes at par or better.
Weather moves the setup too. Rain softens greens and brings scores down; wind and firm ground push them up. The 2019 winning score at Pebble Beach was 13 under, and the 2025 score at Oakmont was 1 under. Check the forecast for tournament week before you bet a total.
