Dodgers vs Brewers Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

No bet on Game 1 in Milwaukee. Our number gives the Brewers 53.2%, the market 50.5%, and that gap is too small to back.

DraftKings has the Brewers at -112 and the Dodgers at -107. Take out the 4.5-point margin those two prices carry and the market makes Milwaukee 50.5% and Los Angeles 49.5%. Ours has Milwaukee at 53.2%. The difference is 2.7 points. We bet at 5.

How the number is built

The method is short. Rate each club on its 2026 regular-season runs alone, set the two rates head to head, then give the home side the edge home teams earned across the league this year.

Milwaukee scored 832 runs and allowed 618 in 162 games. Raise runs scored to the power 1.83 and divide by that figure plus runs allowed to the same power: the Brewers come out at 63.3%, close to the 63.6% of their 103-59 record. Los Angeles scored 801 and allowed 600, which is 62.9% by runs and 61.7% by a 100-62 record. On runs, the two clubs are 0.4 points apart.

Matched on a neutral field, those rates make the Brewers 50.4% to win. Home teams went 1,284-1,145 in the 2026 regular season, a 52.9% rate. Fold that in and Milwaukee lands on 53.2%, Los Angeles on 46.8%. Without the home edge, our number would sit 0.1 points under the market’s.

Where the series stands

Nowhere yet. ESPN lists this as Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, with the series starting on 11 October, so neither club has played a game in it.

The number reads 162 regular-season games per club and nothing after them. Anything either team did once the season ended is outside it.

The starters

ESPN lists no probable starter for either club in its read of 9 October. We name nobody.

Our 53.2% does not depend on who pitches. It comes from 162 games per club, with every arm that took the ball. The market will move once the names are out, and a pass at -112 can turn into a bet at a different price.

The season behind it

The Brewers were 55-26 at American Family Field, scoring 5.52 runs a game and allowing 3.47. The Dodgers travelled better than they hosted: 49-32 on the road with 5.26 scored and 3.46 allowed, against 51-30, 4.63 and 3.95 at home. A split halves each sample, so the method keeps the full season.

The clubs met seven times and Milwaukee won four. In May at American Family Field the Dodgers took two of three; in August in Los Angeles the Brewers took three of four. Seven games settle nothing, and none of them is in the number.

The price

The Brewers opened at -118 and the Dodgers at -102. Read at 17:13 UTC on 9 October, DraftKings via ESPN, they were -112 and -107. The market has moved towards Los Angeles, away from our number.

The market’s figure is the moneyline with its margin taken out. That margin is 4.5 points at this read, and both break points below are measured with it.

Pick: No bet

No bet at Brewers -112 or Dodgers -107. Ours is 53.2% for Milwaukee, the market’s is 50.5%, and 2.7 points is short of the 5-point threshold.

The Brewers become a bet at -101 or any longer price. The Dodgers need +130 or longer. Between those two, it is a pass.

What changes it

The price comes first. Milwaukee has already drifted from -118 to -112. The same move again would put the Brewers at -106, still short of -101. The read is about 55 hours before first pitch, so check it on the day.

Then the starters. When each club names its Game 1 arm, the price will carry that and our number will not. Hold any new price against -101 and +130 before betting either side.

The total

The total is 6, down from 6.5 at the open, with the over at -112 and the under at -108. Pass on the total.

In the regular season the Brewers went over 6 in 107 of 162 games and landed on it in 15. The Dodgers went over in 104 and landed on it in 15. Every starter in both rotations is in those games. A postseason total is priced on the two men named for the night, which a full season cannot measure, so we pass on every postseason total.
