Nevada vs UCLA Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Our number has UCLA by 3.5. The market has UCLA by 22.5. Take Nevada.
That 19-point gap is the whole prediction. The threshold for a bet is 3 points, so the gap is more than six times what the rule asks for. The rest of this page covers where the 3.5 comes from and why the market’s 22.5 is so far from it.
Nevada at UCLA kicks off Saturday 31 October at 4:15 PM ET at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. It is a non-conference game. UCLA is No. 7 in the AP Poll (Week 9) and 7-0. Nevada is unranked and 3-4.
The prices and what they say
DraftKings has UCLA -22.5 at -112 and Nevada +22.5 at -108, read 30 October 2026 at 00:40 UTC. UCLA opened at -23.5.
The moneyline is UCLA -2100 and Nevada +1100. A book builds in a margin, an extra amount that makes the two prices add to more than 100%. With the margin removed, the market gives UCLA a 92.0% chance to win and Nevada 8.0%. ESPN’s FPI has UCLA at 93.5% and Nevada at 6.5%. Our method stakes the spread, so the moneyline is context only.
How UCLA by 3.5 is reached
The method takes half the difference between two averages. The first is the home team’s average margin at home. The second is the visitor’s average margin on the road. Both use FBS opponents only, over 2025 and 2026 together. Bowl and playoff games are played at neutral sites and are left out.
UCLA is 6-4 at home against FBS teams over that span, with an average margin of -3.1 points. Nevada is 2-7 on the road against FBS teams, with an average margin of -10.0. Half the difference is 3.5 points in UCLA’s favour, which as a spread is UCLA -3.5.
The sample is 10 games for UCLA and 9 for Nevada. The rule needs at least 4 in each, so both halves qualify. Against a spread of 22.5, the gap is 19.0 points toward Nevada.
This season so far
Our number does not use this season’s records by themselves. It uses this season only as part of the two-year home and road splits. UCLA is 7-0 overall, 5-0 in the Big Ten and 4-0 at home, on a seven-game winning streak. It has scored 34.4 points a game and allowed 15.3, a margin of +19.1, with all seven games against FBS teams.
Nevada is 3-4 and 2-2 in the Mountain West. Its margin is +4.3 a game overall and +7.2 against FBS teams, where it is 3-3. The other loss was 20-7 at home to Montana State on 12 September, a team outside the FBS. Most recently Nevada beat San José State 28-13 at home on 24 October.
UCLA at home, Nevada on the road
UCLA’s four home games this season were all wins: 28-10 over San Diego State, 52-38 over Purdue, 17-7 over Wisconsin and 28-10 over Michigan State on 24 October. In 2025 UCLA was 2-4 at home. Those six 2025 games are where the -3.1 average comes from, because this season’s four home games were all comfortable wins.
Nevada’s road games against FBS teams this season were a 27-20 loss at Middle Tennessee, a 30-13 win at UTEP and a 31-17 loss at North Dakota State. In 2025 Nevada was 1-5 on the road. The -10.0 average rests on a team that has lost 7 of its 9 road games against FBS teams.
The halves the method leaves out are UCLA’s road games and Nevada’s home games. That includes UCLA’s 54-3 win at Maryland and 45-24 win at California, and Nevada’s 49-14 home win over Western Kentucky.
The season around it
The two teams finished 2025 with the same 3-9 record. Both went 2-4 at home and 1-5 on the road. UCLA scored 18.2 and allowed 33.4, a margin of -15.2. Nevada scored 17.6 and allowed 27.5, a margin of -9.9. Neither played in the postseason.
This season has split the two teams. UCLA’s closest game was a 17-15 win at Oregon on 10 October. Nevada’s closest was a 36-33 home loss to Air Force on 26 September.
Nevada and UCLA did not play each other in 2025 or 2026, so no game between them is inside our number.
Pick: Nevada +22.5
Nevada +22.5 at -108 at DraftKings, read 30 October 2026 at 00:40 UTC. UCLA opened at -23.5. The gap is 19.0 points against a 3-point threshold.
The number rests on 19 games, 10 for UCLA and 9 for Nevada. UCLA’s half is the weak one, and the 2025 games carry it.
What kills the bet
The line. Nevada stays a bet at +6.5 or better. Below that, the call is no bet. UCLA would become the bet at -0.5 or better. The spread would have to move 16 points before this call changed, and it has moved one point since the open.
The risk is UCLA’s 2026 form. The 7-0 team has a margin of +19.1 against FBS teams this season, which is close to the spread. The 3-9 team from 2025 is most of what our number measures. Our method trusts two seasons of home and road splits over seven games. If this season is the better guide, the market is right and this bet loses.

The total and the spread
The total is 43.5, down from 48.5 at the open. The over is -118 and the under -102 at DraftKings.
Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, UCLA’s games went over 43.5 in 12 of 19. Nevada’s went over in 11 of 18. This season UCLA’s games produced 69, 38, 90, 57, 32, 24 and 38 points. Nevada’s FBS games produced 63, 47, 69, 43, 48 and 41.
No bet on the total. Our method stakes the spread only, and these figures are a count. The spread is the market our method stakes, and the bet there is Nevada +22.5.
