How 9.5 is reached
Our home margin is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road. It counts only games against FBS teams, across 2025 and 2026 together.
Oklahoma is 7-3 at home against FBS teams over that span, winning by 11.0 points a game across 10 games. South Carolina is 1-5 on the road against FBS teams, losing by 8.0 a game across 6 games. Half the difference between those two averages is 9.5.
Both samples clear the 4-game minimum. The rule makes a side a bet when our number and the spread are at least 3 points apart. At Oklahoma -3.5 they are 6.0 apart.
Oklahoma at home, South Carolina on the road
Oklahoma’s three home games this season: a 51-0 win over UTEP on 4 September, a 14-6 win over New Mexico on 19 September and a 21-13 loss to Kentucky on 17 October. The Kentucky loss is the most recent home result in the sample. The 51-point UTEP win is the largest, and it pulls the 11.0 average up.
Oklahoma also lost 34-24 to Alabama in Norman on 19 December 2025, a playoff game. The method treats bowl and playoff games as neutral and leaves it out. The 27-24 win over Texas on 10 October was at a neutral site, so it is out too: the home split counts true home games only.
South Carolina’s road half is thin and mostly bad. It went 0-4 on the road in 2025. This season it lost 49-18 at Alabama on 26 September, then won 38-19 at Florida on 10 October. That Florida win is the only road win against an FBS team in six tries.
The halves the method leaves out point the other way in part. Oklahoma went 4-0 on the road in 2025, and this season lost 17-10 at Michigan and 41-13 at Georgia before winning 23-15 at Mississippi State. South Carolina is 3-2 at home this season, losing 41-34 to Mississippi State and 35-34 to Kentucky.
This season so far
This season’s records are not in our number. Both teams are 4-3. Neither is ranked in the AP Poll, Week 9.
Oklahoma is 4-3 against FBS teams and 2-2 in the SEC. It scores 21.6 points a game and allows 17.7, a margin of +3.9. It won its last game, 23-15 at Mississippi State on 24 October.
South Carolina is 3-3 against FBS teams and 2-3 in the SEC, with a 45-9 win over Towson outside the FBS. It scores 36.1 and allows 25.3. Against FBS teams alone its margin is +6.7. It has won two straight, the last 27-24 over Tennessee at home on 24 October.
On this season alone, South Carolina has the better FBS margin, +6.7 to +3.9. That is the case against our number, and it rests on six and seven games.
Last season and the meeting
Oklahoma went 10-3 in 2025, 9-3 against FBS teams, with an average margin of +10.8. South Carolina went 4-8, 3-8 against FBS teams, at +0.6 a game, and did not win on the road.
The teams met once in the span. Oklahoma won 26-7 at South Carolina on 18 October 2025. That was a South Carolina home game, a half the method does not use, so the meeting is outside our number.
Pick: Oklahoma -3.5
Oklahoma -3.5 at -105, DraftKings, read 30 October 2026 at 00:40 UTC. The spread opened at Oklahoma -5.5. The gap is 6.0 points against a 3-point threshold.
The number rests on 16 games, split 10 and 6. South Carolina’s road half is the smaller one, and five of its six games are losses.
What kills the bet
The line. Oklahoma stays a bet down to -6.5. Past that, the gap falls below the threshold and the call is a pass. South Carolina would become the bet only at +12.5 or longer.
The risk is this season. Oklahoma has scored 14 or fewer points in four of its seven games, and South Carolina’s offense is scoring 36.1 a game. Our number trusts two seasons of home and road results over seven games of form.

The total
The total is 44.5, up from 43.5 at the open. The over is -105 and the under -115.
Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, Oklahoma’s games went over 44.5 in 7 of 19 and South Carolina’s in 11 of 17. This season Oklahoma’s seven FBS games produced 51, 27, 20, 54, 51, 34 and 38 points. South Carolina’s six produced 57, 75, 67, 69, 57 and 51.
No bet on the total. The method stakes the spread only, and these are counts. The two teams’ games sit on opposite sides of 44.5.
