South Alabama opened as a 14.5-point favorite over UL Monroe at DraftKings and is 14 now. Our number is South Alabama by 10.7. The gap is 3.3 points, and the threshold for a bet here is 3.

How the number is built

The method is one clause: our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, 2025 and 2026 together.

South Alabama is 2-4 at home against FBS teams over that span, losing by 3.0 points a game across 6 games. UL Monroe is 1-8 on the road against FBS teams, losing by 24.4 a game across 9 games. The difference is 21.4 points. Half of it is 10.7.

A home team that does not win big at home

UL Monroe is 0-4. It lost 62-13 at Mississippi State and 26-20 at UAB, then 38-35 to SE Louisiana and 45-17 to Florida Atlantic at home on 26 September. Against FBS teams it has scored 16.7 a game and allowed 44.3.
