Bruins vs Kings Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Bet the Bruins at +120. The price makes Los Angeles the favourite; our number has Boston slightly ahead, 51.7% against the price’s 43.7%.

The Los Angeles Kings are -142 and the Boston Bruins +120 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that prices Los Angeles at 56.3% and Boston at 43.7%. Our number has the Kings at 48.3%. The two disagree on who the favourite is, and that is an 8.0-point gap.

Where 48.3% comes from

The number is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out of both. Los Angeles had none; Boston’s outdoor game in Tampa on 1 February is out of its road half.

The Kings went 15-17-9 at crypto.com Arena: 15 wins, 17 regulation losses, 9 after regulation, a 36.6% home win rate over 41 games. The Bruins went 16-16-8 on the road and lost 24 of 40, a 60.0% road loss rate. Average the two and Los Angeles is 48.3%, Boston 51.7%.

Both halves are weak, and the Kings’ half is weaker. Los Angeles won fewer than two in five at home. A -142 price reads like a home team that won most of its games there.

The margin is the extra a book puts into both prices so they add to more than 100%. At -142 and +120 they add to 104.1%. Taken out, the Kings are 56.3% and the Bruins 43.7%.

The fair objection: Los Angeles was better away from home. The Kings went 20-10-11 on the road, a 48.8% win rate, and the method uses only the home half. That is the design: the same two rates on every page, never the half that suits the pick. Our inputs are 41 Kings home games and 40 Bruins road games, all from 2025-26.

This season has started for both and none of it is in the figures. Boston is 5-2-0 and won 6-3 in San Jose on Tuesday. Los Angeles is 0-3-2 and has not won a game yet; it lost 4-1 at home to Edmonton on Tuesday and has not played since. The Bruins play in Anaheim on Friday night, 10:00 PM ET, so this is the second game of a back-to-back for Boston. That game had not been played when this page was written.

Los Angeles at home, Boston on the road

The goals say the same thing as the records. Los Angeles at home scored 2.63 a game and allowed 3.12, a deficit of 0.49. Boston on the road scored 3.05 and allowed 3.48, a deficit of 0.43. Two sides that lost the goal count in these halves, by close to the same amount.

The other halves, which the method does not use: Boston at home went 29-11-1, a 70.7% win rate, scoring 3.54 and allowing 2.56. Los Angeles on the road went 20-10-11, 48.8%, scoring 2.85 and allowing 2.90.

Over the full season Boston was the better team. The Bruins finished 45-27-10 with 100 points and outscored opponents by 22, then lost 4-2 to Buffalo in the playoffs. The Kings finished 35-27-20 with 90 points, were outscored by 22, and were swept 4-0 by Colorado.

The Kings lived past regulation. Los Angeles went to overtime or a shootout 33 times and won 13 of them, and went 21-6-20 in one-goal games. Boston won 12 of the 22 that went past 60 minutes and went 20-8-10 in one-goal games.

The two teams met twice in 2025-26, and Boston won both 2-1 in overtime. The game at crypto.com Arena on 21 November is the only meeting in our number: it is one of the Kings’ 41 home games and one of the Bruins’ 40 road games. The one in Boston on 10 March is in neither half.

Pick: Bruins +120

Bet the Bruins on the moneyline at +120. The gap is 8.0 points toward Boston, against a threshold of 5.

The line has not moved since it opened at Kings -142 and Bruins +120. It was read on 16 October 2026 at 15:38 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.

What kills the bet

A shorter Bruins price, though there is room. At +115 or longer Boston is a bet whatever the Kings are priced at. Against the Kings at -142, the bet still holds with the Bruins at even money.

For the Kings to become the bet, they would have to drift to +131 or longer. They are -142.

The back-to-back is the risk the number does not see: it is built from last season’s rates and knows nothing of Friday night in Anaheim. Who starts in goal for the Bruins on the second night is not known here, and this page states nothing about who plays for either team on 17 October. Check both before you bet.

The total and the puck line

The total is 5.5, over -125 and under +105. The Kings’ games went over 5.5 in 39 of 82, the Bruins’ in 47 of 82. Los Angeles’s home games averaged 5.75 goals, Boston’s road games 6.53.

That is 47.6% and 57.3%, an average of 52.4% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 53.3% and the under at 46.7%, so our number sits on the under side by less than 1 point. Pass on the total.

The puck line points the same way as the pick, and by more. Los Angeles is -1.5 at +170 and Boston +1.5 at -205, which is 35.5% and 64.5% without the margin. The Kings won by two goals or more in 14 of 82 games. The Bruins lost by two or more in 19 of 82. Averaged, Kings -1.5 lands 20.1% of the time against 35.5% priced, a gap of 15.4 points toward Bruins +1.5 at -205. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this stays a lean, on the same side as the pick. One bet on this game: the Bruins at +120.
