Flyers vs Red Wings Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Flyers at +114. The book makes Detroit the favourite; our number makes Philadelphia the favourite, and the gap between them is 7.5 points.
The Detroit Red Wings are -135 and the Philadelphia Flyers +114 at DraftKings. With the margin removed, Detroit is 55.1% and Philadelphia 44.9%. Our number has the Red Wings at 47.6% and the Flyers at 52.4%. We bet a side when the gap is 5 points or more, and this one is 7.5 toward the Flyers.
The two records behind 47.6%
Our home win chance is the home team’s 2025-26 win rate in its own building, averaged with the visitor’s 2025-26 loss rate on the road. A win in overtime or a shootout counts as a win, and neutral-site games are left out; neither team had one.
Detroit went 21-16-4 at home. That is 21 wins, 16 regulation losses and 4 losses after regulation, a 51.2% home win rate over 41 games. Philadelphia went 23-14-4 on the road and lost 18 of 41, a 43.9% road loss rate. The two average to 47.6% for the Red Wings.
So the method has the home team below even, and the reason is on the Flyers’ side of the sum. Detroit barely won more than it lost at home. Philadelphia won 23 of 41 away from home, more often than the Red Wings won in their own building.
Books shade both prices so they add to more than 100%, and the extra is the margin. Here -135 and +114 add to 104.2%. Without it the Red Wings are 55.1% and the Flyers 44.9%.
The 7.5 points rest on a narrow base. Our number is 41 Detroit home games and 41 Philadelphia road games from 2025-26, with no playoff game and nothing from this season. Both teams lost on Tuesday: the Flyers 3-2 in a shootout at home to the Seattle Kraken, the Red Wings 5-4 in overtime at home to the New Jersey Devils. Neither result is in the figures.
Detroit at home, Philadelphia away
By goals the visitor’s half is the stronger one too. The Flyers on the road scored 3.39 a game and allowed 3.17, a surplus of 0.22. The Red Wings at home scored 3.10 and allowed 3.34, which is 0.24 a game in deficit.
Philadelphia was a better attacking team away from home. At home the Flyers scored 2.71 a game, against 3.39 on the road, and went 20-13-8, a 48.8% win rate. Detroit’s road record was 20-15-6, the same 48.8%, with 2.78 goals for and 2.95 against. The method reads Detroit’s home half and Philadelphia’s road half, and those are the two that favour the Flyers.
The full season says the same. The Flyers finished 43-27-12 with 98 points and outscored opponents by 7. The Red Wings finished 41-31-10 with 92 points and were outscored by 17. Philadelphia beat Pittsburgh 4-2 in a playoff series, then was swept 4-0 by Carolina. Detroit missed the playoffs.
Both teams lived in close games. The Flyers played 28 that went past 60 minutes and won 16; the Red Wings played 21 and won 11. In one-goal games Philadelphia went 17-5-12 and Detroit 18-5-10. Detroit won 23 of its 41 games by two goals or more, Philadelphia 26 of 43.
The case for Detroit sits in the meetings. The Red Wings won two of three in 2025-26: 4-2 in Philadelphia on 2 April and 6-3 at Little Caesars Arena on 9 April. The Flyers won the first, 5-3 in Detroit on 28 March. Three games in twelve days late in the season are a thin sample. The two in Detroit are in our number, each one game among 41 for either team; the one in Philadelphia is in neither half the method reads.
Pick: Flyers +114
Bet the Flyers on the moneyline at +114. Our 52.4% against the market’s 44.9% is a 7.5-point gap, past the 5-point threshold.
The line opened at Red Wings -135 and Flyers +114 and was unchanged when it was read on 14 October 2026 at 15:56 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
What kills the bet
The price the Flyers can fall to is +111. At +111 or longer they are a bet whatever Detroit is priced at, so there are 3 cents of room. Below that the Red Wings’ price comes into the sum. Against -135, the Flyers would still clear at even money.
Detroit becomes the bet only at +135 or longer, and it is -135 now.
Lineups are the unknown no price shows. This page states nothing about who plays for either team on 15 October. Read them before you take the +114.
The total and the puck line
The total is 5.5, over -120 and under +100. The Red Wings’ games went over 5.5 in 49 of 82 and the Flyers’ in 44 of 82. Detroit’s home games averaged 6.44 goals and Philadelphia’s road games 6.56.
Those over rates are 59.8% and 53.7%, which average 56.7%. The over at -120 is priced at 52.2% with the margin out. The gap is 4.5 points toward the over, half a point short of the bar. Pass on the total.
The puck line has the Red Wings -1.5 at +185 and the Flyers +1.5 at -225, which is 33.6% and 66.4% once the margin is out. Detroit won by two goals or more in 23 of 82 games. Philadelphia lost by two or more in 22 of 82. Averaged, Red Wings -1.5 lands 27.4% of the time against 33.6% priced, a gap of 6.2 points toward Flyers +1.5. Our method bets the moneyline only, so that is a lean, and it is the same opinion as the pick. One bet: the Flyers at +114.
