His presence has provided a boost to a Warriors squad that has gone 13-6 since falling below .500 in late January.

Golden State’s latest victory came on Tuesday, a 114-102 win over the New York Knicks. Butler scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half, while Stephen Curry led the way with 28 points, including 20 after halftime.

“That’s what it looks like,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “Jimmy getting downhill, guys knocking down 3s, getting out in transition, and getting points off our defense. That second half was a good example of what it can look like.”

Curry has been on a tear since Butler’s arrival, scoring at least 20 points in nine of their 10 games together, including a 56-point explosion in Orlando last week.

Nets Searching for Answers

Brooklyn’s season has spiraled, with the team returning home on a five-game losing streak. The Nets have struggled defensively during the skid, allowing an average of 119.8 points per game while opponents shoot a scorching 54.1% from the field.

On Tuesday, Brooklyn suffered a 127-113 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, marking the fifth straight game they allowed at least 50% shooting. The Nets surrendered 62 points in the paint and are now 1-24 when allowing an opponent to shoot 50% or better.

“I think our defense was not good enough, and that’s what we have to embrace right now,” Nets coach Jordi Fernandez said. “Obviously, our team has been changing the roster, (but) this was one of our worst performances.”

D’Angelo Russell and Cam Thomas played together for only the second time this season, with Thomas scoring 24 points and Russell adding 12 after missing five games with an ankle injury. The duo hopes to develop chemistry quickly as Brooklyn looks to salvage its season.

Warriors Seek Payback

The Nets earned a 128-121 win in San Francisco on Nov. 25 when they were playing some of their best basketball of the season. Since then, Brooklyn has lost 23 of its last 28 games, while Golden State has turned things around and looks to even the season series.
