Surging Bucks Take Aim at Injury-Riddled Mavericks
The Milwaukee Bucks return home Wednesday night, looking to extend their strong run of form against a severely depleted Dallas Mavericks squad. This marks the second meeting between these teams in five days, with Milwaukee having won the first encounter convincingly.
Bucks Keep Rolling
Milwaukee secured its seventh win in the past eight games with a 127-121 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. A strong fourth quarter fueled the win, highlighted by Kevin Porter Jr.’s 12 points off the bench in the final frame.

“He kept us afloat, that’s the second or third time him and that second unit have kept us afloat,” head coach Doc Rivers said. “It’s really helping (Damian Lillard) and Giannis (Antetokounmpo), giving them great rest.”
Porter has embraced his role on a contending team, something he hasn’t experienced before.
“I’ve never been on a winning team or organization,” Porter said. “I don’t know winning ways, so that’s what I’ve been learning here. These guys, the environment, it’s just been team, team, team, and I’ve been soaking up the knowledge and wisdom.”
Antetokounmpo powered the Bucks with a triple-double (26 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists), continuing his MVP-caliber campaign. The Bucks could sweep their season series with the Mavericks for the third consecutive year with another victory.
Mavericks Dealing with Devastating Injuries
Dallas is struggling, having lost four of its last five games, including a 122-98 blowout against Sacramento on Monday. To make matters worse, Kyrie Irving sustained a season-ending torn ACL in that game, further depleting an already injury-ravaged roster.
“Just unlucky. The injuries we’ve had this season, guys are trying to hold it together to get other bodies back,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said. “We’re running out of bodies here, but guys keep fighting.”
In addition to Irving, Anthony Davis (thigh) could be sidelined for the rest of the season. Other injuries include Dante Exum (foot), P.J. Washington (ankle), Jaden Hardy (ankle), Daniel Gafford (MCL sprain), and Derek Lively II (ankle), all of whom are ruled out for Wednesday. Caleb Martin (hip) is listed as doubtful.
With the team short-handed, Kai Jones, signed to a two-way contract on Monday, led the Mavericks with a career-high 21 points and nine rebounds against Sacramento.
Bucks Seek Another Win Over Dallas
Milwaukee took the first matchup between these teams on Saturday, winning 132-117 behind Antetokounmpo’s 29 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Lillard chipped in 28 points and six assists, while Irving led Dallas with 31 before his injury.
Antetokounmpo remains the Bucks’ focal point, averaging 30.8 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. Lillard leads the team in assists (7.2 apg) while providing consistent scoring support. With Irving out, Dallas will lean on Klay Thompson, who is averaging 13.8 points per game, to take on a larger role.
