Two Teams, One Goal: End on a High Note
As the NBA regular season winds down, Wednesday night’s matchup between the Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers may not have playoff implications—but both teams are desperate to walk away with something positive.
For Philly (23-56), the end of a brutal 12-game losing streak is long overdue. The Wizards (17-62) aren’t far behind, coming off their third straight loss and losers in 11 of their last 13. This one might be more about pride—and for some players, their future.
Philadelphia Fighting Through the Pain
Lonnie Walker IV has kept the energy high despite the losing stretch.
“We just want to finish the season as strong as we can,” Walker told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“We’re coming in every day with the intent to win.”
Philly has lost 27 of their last 30, but that hasn’t stopped players from showing heart.
Walker dropped 29 points on Monday vs. Miami, matching his career-best six made threes.
Quentin Grimes also scored 29 in that game, but he’s questionable Wednesday due to back soreness.
Rookie Adem Bona had a solid double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Despite the team’s skid, Bona said:
“We are giving our best out there and building toward next year.”
Philly wraps up the season at home against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday and Chicago Bulls on Sunday.
Wizards Looking for Bright Spots, Sarr Shines
Like the Sixers, Washington is clinging to any positives in a rough season.
They dropped a close one, 104-98 to Indiana, on Tuesday. But rookie Alex Sarr continues to impress.
Sarr had 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Justin Champagnie added 20 and 13.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Sarr believes he deserves Rookie of the Year consideration.
“I definitely belong in that conversation,” he told The Washington Post.
“I’ve been constantly improving… trying to keep building that momentum.”
Sarr averaged 16.4 points per game last month, including 24 points vs. Philly back on March 26.
That game was a 119-114 Wizards win, fueled by a 45-point first quarter, and evened the season series between the two.
