There is always that one week of the college football season where a bunch of top teams just seem to fall. Well, Week 6 of the 2024 season was that week. With all eyes on Georgia-Alabama in Week 5, one of college football’s best rivalries delivered an instant classic. The Crimson Tide went up big early, but Georgia battled back to take a 34-33 lead with just 2:31 remaining in the game. In a blink of an eye, it’s already Week 5 of the 2024 college football season. All of the Top 10 teams that played last week were winners. Only two teams in the Top 25 fell victim to an upset by an unranked team. Kansas State felt the power of a night game at BYU and lost 38-9. Unlike Week 2 of the 2024 college football season, Week 3 was a bit more stable. All of the top ten teams in the country that played on Saturday were winners. Just two weeks into the 2024 college football season and already we have a major upset. Northern Illinois got paid $1.4 million to travel to South Bend, Ind., and shock the nation with a 16-14 victory over previously No. 5 Notre Dame. We are on to College Football Week 2 after an exciting opening week of the 2024 season. It went pretty much as expected for the AP Top 25. The top teams in the country – Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, etc. – recorded fairly easy wins over some outmatched opponents. There is no position in college football more important than quarterback. Quarterbacks routinely win many of the top season-ending awards like the Heisman Trophy. The 2024-25 Davey O’Brien award will go to this season’s top quarterback and there are a number of worthy candidates. Quick…when was the last time the Big Ten conference actually had ten teams? That would be 1990 just before Penn State joined the conference to push it to 11 teams. With the addition of four more teams this offseason, the Big Ten now stands at 18 members.  Of those 18 members, the reigning NCAA football national champion calls the Big Ten home. That, of course, is Michigan, which will look a bit different in 2024.
