The 2021-22 NHL regular season is in its final week of play. The Eastern Conference playoff teams are all set. The West still has a handful of teams with an opportunity to get in.
The Los Angeles Kings and Nashville Predators clinched spots in the postseason last night as a result of a Dallas shootout win over Vegas. The Kings can relax a bit in their game with Seattle tonight.
Vegas, however, still needs a win and will be on the ice tonight against Chicago. The Knights will need to take care of business tonight and get some help from Arizona.
Five games are on the schedule tonight. Thirty of the league’s 32 teams will play on Friday, the final scheduled day of the regular season. Seattle and Winnipeg will play a makeup game on Sunday, May 1, and the playoffs will begin on Monday, May 2nd.
Montreal Canadiens vs. NY Rangers

The Rangers and Canadiens are heading separate directions. When the regular season ends, Montreal will pack up and head home while the Rangers are off to the playoffs.
The Rangers have won four of their last five games and scored 17 goals in four consecutive wins. Montreal has lost nine straight. They have been shut out twice but did score 10 goals in their last three losses to Philadelphia, Ottawa, and Boston. All three games went Over the total.
The Rangers are among the best defensive teams in hockey and goalie Igor Shesterkin is the NHL’s best. He leads the NHL in goals against (2.03) and save percentage (.936). In that recent four-game win streak, the Rangers had three straight shutouts.
The Rangers aren’t an outstanding offensive team, but they can score. Montreal will not. The Canadiens are 31 st in goals for.
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Vegas still has a shot at a playoff berth while Chicago’s only thing to play for is spoiling that opportunity. The Blackhawks are 27th in the NHL in scoring. They take the second-fewest shots per game in the league.
Chicago has just three wins in its last ten games and in those three games the Blackhawks have scored 13 goals, an average of less than two per game.
The scores of the last four Golden Knights-Blackhawks games played in Chicago are 2-1, 2-1, 3-1, and 2- 1. This game will be a similar one and the total will go Under.
Los Angeles Kings vs. Seattle Kraken
Pick: OVER 6
The Kings have a chance at earning a playoff berth. They are currently 43-27-10 and sit in third place in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.
Los Angeles is in the best position of any of the remaining postseason candidates in the West. They currently have 96 points, which puts them ahead of Nashville (94), Dallas (93), Vegas (90), and Vancouver (87).
The Kings will play Seattle tonight. The Kraken are 30th in scoring and in shots per game. On defense, they rank 24th in goals against. They will also be playing with no rest. The Kings haven’t played since Saturday. That will allow them to pound on the Kraken and take this total Over 6.
