Eleven in a row

The run began with an 88-60 home win over Norfolk State on 31 January and lasted through the MEAC semifinal on 13 March. In February Howard lost once and covered all seven; the one defeat, 87-81 at home to Yale, was still a cover at +6.5. The final, a 70-63 win over North Carolina Central as 11.5-point favorites, ended it.

The favorite side lost 1.66 units over 20 games, mostly in two results: 78-77 at home to Morgan State on 24 January at -1450, and 58-57 at South Carolina State at -395. Howard beat both later in the season, Morgan State 84-59 away and South Carolina State twice by 17 or more.
