Tennessee at Arkansas Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Our number has Tennessee by 7.2. Tennessee is a bet at -4 or shorter, Arkansas at +10.5 or longer.

No spread had been posted for this game at DraftKings when we read ESPN on 28 September 2026. So the call is a price range, not a side. Our number is Tennessee by 7.2, and the threshold for a bet is 3 points either side of it.

How the number is built

The method is one clause: our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, 2025 and 2026 together.

Arkansas is 2-6 at home against FBS teams over that span, losing by 3.75 points a game across 8 games. Tennessee is 4-1 on the road against FBS teams, winning by 10.6 a game across 5 games. The difference is 14.35 points. Half of it, rounded, is 7.2.

Both samples clear the 4-game minimum. Tennessee’s is the thinner one, and only one of its five road games is from 2026.

Arkansas at home

The two wins were 56-14 over Arkansas State in 2025 and 34-6 over Tulsa on 26 September. The six losses were 56-13 to Notre Dame, 45-42 to Texas A&M, 33-24 to Auburn, 38-35 to Mississippi State and 31-17 to Missouri, all in 2025, then 45-17 to Georgia on 19 September.

Two of those losses were by 3 points. The 43-point loss to Notre Dame is the largest margin in the sample, and without it the other seven home games average +1.9, a sum of 13 over 7.

Tennessee on the road

Tennessee won 41-34 at Mississippi State, 56-34 at Kentucky and 31-11 at Florida in 2025, then 45-24 at Georgia Tech on 12 September. Three of the four wins came by 20 or more.

The loss was 37-20 at Alabama in 2025. Five games is a short record. It is enough to price, and not much more.

2026 so far

No. 17 Tennessee is 3-1. It beat Furman 56-9, a team outside the FBS, then won 45-24 at Georgia Tech and beat Kennesaw State 42-9. It lost 20-17 to Texas at home on 26 September. Against its three FBS opponents it has scored 34.7 points a game and allowed 17.7.

Arkansas is 2-2. It beat North Alabama 31-14, a team outside the FBS, lost 43-10 at Utah and 45-17 to Georgia, then beat Tulsa 34-6. Against FBS teams it has scored 20.3 a game and allowed 31.3. Both teams are 0-1 in the SEC.

Last season

Tennessee went 8-5 in 2025 and won by 10.9 a game. Its season ended with a 30-28 loss to Illinois on 30 December, at a neutral site.

Arkansas went 2-10 and was outscored by 0.9 a game. It lost five games by 3 points or fewer, and went 0-5 on the road. The two teams met once: Tennessee won 34-31 at home on 11 October 2025.

The price

There is none yet, for the spread, the total or the moneyline.

ESPN’s FPI gives Tennessee an 84.4% chance to win. That agrees with our number on the winner. It says nothing about the margin a spread would ask for.

Pick: Tennessee -4 or shorter, Arkansas +10.5 or longer

Until a line is posted, this is the call. At Tennessee -4 the gap is 3.2 and Tennessee is the bet. At Arkansas +10.5 the gap is 3.3 and Arkansas is the bet.

Anywhere between Tennessee -4.5 and -10, the market sits within 3 points of our 7.2 and the call is a pass. It rests on 13 games, split 8 and 5.

What changes it

The posted line decides the side. The full page re-reads it the week of the game and states the pick at that price.

Tennessee’s road sample is the weak part. Five games move fast: one more road loss by 10 would take its 10.6 down to 7.2, a sum of 43 over 6. This page does not state who is available, so check the injury report before you bet.
