Our number has Kentucky by 0.2. At +10.5, take Vanderbilt.
Kentucky is a 10.5-point favorite over Vanderbilt at DraftKings, read 24 October 2026 at 00:16 UTC. Our number is Kentucky by 0.2. That is a 10.3-point gap toward Vanderbilt, and the threshold for a bet is 3 points.
Vanderbilt vs Kentucky prediction: the prices
The spread is Kentucky -10.5 at -110 and Vanderbilt +10.5 at -110. Kentucky opened at -9.5. No. 12 Kentucky hosts an unranked Vanderbilt at Kroger Field in Lexington, Saturday 24 October at 7:30 PM ET, in a Southeastern Conference game.
The moneyline is Kentucky -440 and Vanderbilt +340. Every book builds in a margin, the extra that makes the two prices add to more than 100%. With it removed, those prices give Kentucky a 78.2% chance to win and Vanderbilt 21.8%. ESPN’s FPI is further toward Kentucky, at 84.5% and 15.5%. Our method does not use the moneyline; it stakes the spread.
How Kentucky by 0.2 is reached
The method takes the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, over 2025 and 2026 together, and halves the difference. Bowl and playoff games are neutral-site games and are left out.
Kentucky is 5-4 at home against FBS teams over that span, winning by 3.2 points a game. Vanderbilt is 3-4 on the road against FBS teams, and its average margin is +2.9. Two teams that are nearly level in those two halves produce a number near zero: Kentucky by 0.2.
The base is 9 Kentucky home games and 7 Vanderbilt road games. Both clear the 4-game minimum. Against a spread of Kentucky -10.5, the gap is 10.3 points.
This season so far
The method does not see this season apart from the two seasons together, and this season is where the market gets its number. Kentucky is 6-1, 4-1 in the SEC, and has won five straight. Against FBS teams it is 5-1, with a margin of +2.7 a game.
Vanderbilt is 3-4 and 0-4 in the SEC, on a four-game losing streak. Against FBS teams it is 2-4, with a margin of -10.3 a game. The four losses: 21-15 at Auburn, 38-14 at Georgia, 52-17 at home to Ole Miss and 31-21 at home to Arkansas on 17 October.
On this season alone the market’s price looks closer to right than ours. That is the case against the bet, and it is outside the method.
Kentucky at home, Vanderbilt on the road
Kentucky’s three home games against FBS teams this season went 1 point, 24 points and 28 points. It lost 45-17 to Alabama on 12 September, beat South Alabama 45-21 and beat LSU 35-34 on 10 October. The 45-13 win over Youngstown State is left out: Youngstown State is not an FBS team.
In 2025 Kentucky was 4-3 at home. The full home half is 5-4 at +3.2, which is a small edge for a team laying 10.5.
Vanderbilt’s road half is the weak point. Two of the seven road games are from this season, the losses at Auburn by 6 and at Georgia by 24. For the seven to average +2.9, the rest come from 2025, when Vanderbilt went 3-2 on the road. The half of our number that says Vanderbilt can travel is mostly last season’s Vanderbilt.
What the method leaves out: Kentucky’s road form, which is 3-0 this season (31-21 at Texas A&M, 35-34 at South Carolina, 21-13 at Oklahoma), and Vanderbilt’s home form, which is 3-2.
The season around it
Kentucky scores 32.7 points a game this season and allows 25.9, a margin of +6.9 across all seven games. Two of its five straight wins were by a single point. In 2025 it went 5-7, 1-4 on the road, scoring 23.0 and allowing 26.4.
Vanderbilt scores 23.6 and allows 29.7 this season, a margin of -6.1. In 2025 it went 10-3, 7-0 at home, with a margin of +15.6 a game. Its bowl game, a 34-27 loss to Iowa on 31 December 2025, was at a neutral site and is not in our number.
The teams met once in the span. Vanderbilt won 45-17 on 22 November 2025, at Vanderbilt. That was a Vanderbilt home game, so the method does not use it.
Pick: Vanderbilt +10.5
Vanderbilt +10.5 at -110, DraftKings via ESPN, read 24 October 2026 at 00:16 UTC. Kentucky opened at -9.5. The gap is 10.3 points against a 3-point threshold.
The rule decides this one. The samples are 9 and 7, both above the minimum, and the gap is more than three times the threshold. Vanderbilt does not need to win, only to lose by 10 or fewer.
What kills the bet
The line. Vanderbilt stays a bet down to +3.2. Below that, the gap falls under 3 points and the call is a pass. Kentucky would become the bet only as an underdog of 2.8 points or more.
The risk is the four-game slide. Vanderbilt’s FBS margin this season is -10.3, close to the spread on its own, and our number leans on a 2025 team that is not the one taking the field.
The ESPN game page, read 24 October 2026 at 00:16 UTC, listed no injuries. That is not the same as a full roster. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total
The total is 52.5, unchanged from the open. The over is -105 and the under -115.
Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, Kentucky’s games went over in 8 of 17 and Vanderbilt’s in 12 of 18. Pass on the total at 52.5.
