Our number has Washington State by 4.3. At +10, take Washington State.
Arizona is a 10-point favourite at DraftKings, down from 13.5 at the open. Our number has the home team winning by 4.3. That is a gap of 14.3 points, and the threshold for a bet here is 3.
How the number is built
The method is one clause: our number is half the difference between the home team’s average margin at home and the visitor’s average margin on the road, against FBS teams only, 2025 and 2026 together.
Washington State is 4-1 at home against FBS teams over that span, winning by 11.6 points a game across 5 games. Arizona is 3-3 on the road against FBS teams, winning by 3.0 a game across 6 games. The difference is 8.6 points. Half of it is 4.3.
Both samples are small. Five and six games is what there is. All five Washington State home games come from 2025, because its only home game this season was a 48-7 win over Duquesne, a team outside the FBS, and the method leaves it out.
Washington State at home
The four home wins were 36-13 over San Diego State, 28-7 over Toledo, 28-3 over Louisiana Tech and 32-8 over Oregon State. The loss was 59-24 to Washington on 20 September 2025, a 35-point defeat that drags the average down on its own.
Arizona’s road record is flatter. It won 52-17 at Colorado, 30-24 at Cincinnati and 23-7 at Arizona State. It lost 39-14 at Iowa State, 31-28 at Houston and, this season, 28-17 at BYU. Two of the six road games were decided by 6 points or fewer.
The spread asks whether Arizona wins by 11 or more. In 6 road games against FBS teams it has done that twice.
2026 so far
This is where the case for Arizona lives. Washington State is 1-2 and 0-2 against FBS teams: 24-10 down at Washington and 34-7 down at Kansas State, both on the road. Against those two it scored 8.5 a game and allowed 29.0.
Arizona is 2-1. It beat Northern Arizona 35-7 and Northern Illinois 42-17 at home, with the BYU loss in between. Against its two FBS opponents it scored 29.5 a game and allowed 22.5. This is not a conference game: Arizona plays in the Big 12, Washington State in the Pac-12.
Last season
Arizona went 9-4 in 2025 and won by 12.2 points a game. Washington State went 7-6 and won by 2.3. The split that matters here is Washington State’s: 5-1 at home and 1-5 on the road.
Arizona’s season ended with a 24-19 loss to SMU on 2 January 2026, at a neutral site. Washington State’s ended with a 34-21 win over Utah State on 22 December. The two teams did not meet in 2025 or so far in 2026.
The price
Arizona opened at -13.5 and is -10 now, read 24 September 2026 at 04:29 UTC at DraftKings via ESPN. That is a 3.5-point move toward Washington State. Arizona -10 is priced at -115 and Washington State +10 at -105.
The moneyline has Arizona at -395 and Washington State at +310, from -575 and +425 at the open. With the margin removed, that prices Arizona to win 76.6% of the time. ESPN’s FPI has Arizona at 77.3%.
Both measures make Arizona the likelier winner. Ours does not, and the disagreement is 14.3 points of margin.
Pick: Washington State +10
Washington State +10 at -105. The gap is 14.3 points against a 3-point threshold.
It rests on 11 games, split 5 and 6, and the home side of it is all 2025. A bettor who puts more weight on this season’s two road losses than on last season’s home wins has a reason to pass. The method counts only the home team’s home games, together with Arizona’s road games, and on those our number is Washington State by 4.3.
What changes it
The bet holds at any price down to a pick’em, where the gap is 4.3. At Washington State -1 it is 3.3 and still stands. At Washington State -1.5 it is 2.8, and the call becomes a pass.
Availability is the other thing, and this page does not state it. Check the injury report before you bet.
The total
The total opened at 48.5 and is 48.5 now, with both sides at -110.
Against FBS teams across 2025 and 2026, Arizona’s games went over 48.5 in 8 of 14 and Washington State’s in 4 of 14. This season the three Arizona games produced 42, 45 and 59 points; Washington State’s produced 34, 41 and 55.
Lean under 48.5. Two of three games on each side stayed below it this year, and Washington State’s full sample went under 10 times in 14. It is a lean, not a bet.
