Ducks vs Devils Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Ducks at +164. The price makes New Jersey a 63.7% favourite at home; our number, run on the Devils‘ home games without Jacob Markstrom, has them at 54.3%.
The New Jersey Devils are -198 and the Anaheim Ducks +164 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 63.7% for New Jersey and 36.3% for Anaheim. Our figures have the Devils ahead too, by far less.
How 54.3% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neither team played a game at a neutral site.
When the goalie who started most of a team’s games in that season will not play, the method is run again on the games without him. Markstrom appeared in 44 of New Jersey’s 82 games last season; Jake Allen played 37 and Nico Daws 3. Markstrom is now a Florida Panther, on their injured reserve (ESPN, read 22 October 2026, 14:12 UTC), and has played none of New Jersey’s nine games this season. In the 20 home games he did not play last season, the Devils went 11-7-2, a 55.0% home win rate, scoring 65 goals and allowing 57. In the 21 he played, they went 10-10-1.
The Ducks went 19-20-2 on the road: 20 regulation losses and 2 after regulation, so 22 losses in 41, a 53.7% road loss rate. Average 55.0% with 53.7% and the Devils are 54.3%, the Ducks 45.7%. That is 9.4 points better for Anaheim than the price.
The full home season points the same way with more room. The Devils went 21-17-3 at Prudential Center, a 51.2% home win rate; on that number New Jersey is 52.4% and the gap is 11.3 points. Both readings make the Ducks the bet.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -198 and +164 they come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Devils are 63.7% and the Ducks 36.3%.
Every input is from 2025-26: New Jersey’s 20 home games without Markstrom and Anaheim’s 41 road games. This season is not in the figures. The Devils are 5-4-0, 4-2-0 at home, and beat Colorado 4-3 at home on Tuesday; Allen has played six of their games and Daws three. The Ducks are 4-5-0, 3-2-0 on the road, and have lost three in a row, the last 3-2 at the Islanders on Tuesday. Lukas Dostal has appeared in seven of their games and Ville Husso in three.
New Jersey at home, Anaheim on the road
Over the full season the Devils at home scored 2.95 a game and allowed 3.02, a deficit of 0.07. The Ducks on the road scored 3.12 and allowed 3.54, a deficit of 0.42.
The halves the method leaves out: New Jersey on the road went 21-20-0, a 51.2% win rate, scoring 2.66 and allowing 3.17. Anaheim at home went 24-13-4, 58.5%, scoring 3.54 and allowing 3.49. The Devils won the same share of their games on the road as at home.
Over the full season these two finished 5 points apart. Anaheim went 43-33-6 with 92 points and was outscored by 15, then beat Edmonton 4-2 in the playoffs before losing 4-2 to Vegas. New Jersey went 42-37-3 with 87 points, was outscored by 24, and missed the playoffs.
Both teams did well in tight games. The Ducks went 24-6-6 in one-goal games and won 17 of the 23 that went past regulation. The Devils went 20-8-3 in one-goal games and won 13 of their 16 past 60 minutes. New Jersey won by two goals or more in 22 of 82 games.
The teams split the two meetings in 2025-26, each winning 4-1 at home. The Devils’ win at Prudential Center on 13 December, with Allen in goal, is in both halves of our number. The Ducks’ win in Anaheim on 2 November is in neither.
Pick: Ducks +164
Bet the Ducks on the moneyline at +164. The gap is 9.4 points toward Anaheim on New Jersey’s home games without Markstrom, against a threshold of 5, and 11.3 on the full home season.
The line read Devils -198 and Ducks +164 on 22 October 2026 at 14:08 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at -192 and +160.
What kills the bet
A shorter Anaheim price. Against New Jersey at -198, the Ducks stay a bet down to +119; at +146 or longer they are a bet whatever New Jersey is priced at.
For the Devils to become the bet, they would have to be +103 or longer. They are -198.
The rest is on the ice. Anaheim’s start to this season is poor, and none of it is in our number. Troy Terry, Ryan Poehling and Ian Moore are on injured reserve for Anaheim, and Judd Caulfield is day-to-day. New Jersey lists Nick Bjugstad and Seamus Casey on injured reserve. No goalie is on either team’s injury list. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -110 and under -110. The Devils’ games went over 6.5 in 35 of 82, the Ducks’ in 49 of 82. New Jersey’s home games averaged 5.97 goals, Anaheim’s road games 6.66.
That is 42.7% and 59.8%, an average of 51.2% for the over. With the margin removed each side is priced at 50.0%, so our number leans to the over by 1.2 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, New Jersey is -1.5 at +124 and Anaheim +1.5 at -148, which is 42.8% and 57.2% without the margin. Over the full season the Devils won by two goals or more in 22 of 82 games, and the Ducks lost by two or more in 27 of 82. Averaged, Devils -1.5 lands 29.9% of the time against 42.8% priced, a gap of 12.9 points toward Ducks +1.5 at -148. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, on the same side. One bet on this game: the Ducks at +164.
