Sabres vs Maple Leafs Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Bet the Sabres at +100. The market makes Toronto the favourite; our number makes Buffalo one, 57.3% to 42.7%, and the gap is 9.5 points.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are -120 and the Buffalo Sabres +100 at DraftKings. Remove the margin and that is 52.2% for Toronto and 47.8% for Buffalo. Our number has the Sabres at 57.3%. This is the rare game where the two disagree on who should win, not only on by how much.

Why our number has Buffalo ahead

Our home win chance averages the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate with the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate. A win after regulation counts as a win. Games at a neutral site are in neither half, and neither team played one.

The Maple Leafs went 18-15-8 at Scotiabank Arena: 18 wins, 15 regulation losses and 8 losses after regulation, a 43.9% home win rate over 41 games. The Sabres went 24-13-4 on the road and lost only 17 of 41, a 41.5% road loss rate. The average is 42.7% for Toronto, so 57.3% for Buffalo.

Both halves point the same way. Toronto lost more home games than it won, and Buffalo won more road games than it lost. There is nothing in either record for home ice to lean on.

The margin is the slice a book adds to both prices so that together they pass 100%. At -120 and +100 they come to 104.5%. With it removed, the Maple Leafs are 52.2% and the Sabres 47.8%.

The gap is large, so be clear about what it is built from: 41 Toronto home games and 41 Buffalo road games, all in 2025-26. Nothing from the summer or this season is in it. Both teams lost on Tuesday: Toronto 5-4 in Utah, and Buffalo 4-3 in a shootout in Montreal. Those games are not in the figures.

Toronto at home, Buffalo on the road

At home the Maple Leafs scored 3.29 a game and allowed 3.54, outscored by 0.25. The Sabres on the road scored 3.39 and allowed 2.98, outscoring hosts by 0.41.

Toronto was worse still on the road, 14-21-6, a 34.1% win rate, scoring 2.88 and allowing 3.76. Buffalo was better still at home, 26-10-5, 63.4%, scoring 3.63 and allowing 2.90. The method reads only the Leafs’ home half and the Sabres’ road half, and even those favour Buffalo.

The season totals are far apart. The Sabres finished 50-23-9 with 109 points and outscored opponents by 47. In the playoffs they beat Boston 4-2 and lost 4-3 to Montreal. The Maple Leafs finished 32-36-14 with 78 points, were outscored by 46 and missed the playoffs.

Buffalo won comfortably when it won: 35 of its 50 wins came by two goals or more. Toronto won 18 of its 32 that way. The Leafs leaned on overtime for their points, with 14 losses after regulation, 9 wins in 23 games that went past 60 minutes, and a 14-4-14 record in one-goal games. The Sabres went 15-3-9 in one-goal games and won 8 of 17 past regulation.

The Sabres won three of the four meetings in 2025-26. Two were in Toronto: the Maple Leafs won 4-3 in overtime on 25 October, and the Sabres won 7-4 on 27 January. Only those two are in our number, one game each in Toronto’s 41 home games and Buffalo’s 41 road games. The Sabres’ two wins in Buffalo, 5-3 on 24 October and 3-2 in a shootout on 14 March, are in neither half.

Pick: Sabres +100

Bet the Sabres on the moneyline at +100. The gap is 9.5 points toward Buffalo, and the threshold is 5.

The line opened at Maple Leafs -120 and Sabres +100 and had not moved when it was read on 14 October 2026 at 16:20 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.

What kills the bet

Buffalo becoming a clear favourite. At -109 or longer the Sabres are a bet whatever Toronto is priced at, and they are +100 now. Against the Leafs at -120, they stay a bet up to -149. Past that, there is nothing left.

Toronto would have to drift to +166 or longer to become the bet. The Leafs are -120.

What this page cannot see is who plays. It states nothing about either lineup on 15 October. Check both before you take the +100.

The total and the puck line

The total is 6.5, over -112 and under -108. The Maple Leafs’ games went over 6.5 in 46 of 82, the Sabres’ in 38 of 82. Toronto’s home games averaged 6.83 goals, Buffalo’s road games 6.37.

Those rates, 56.1% and 46.3%, average 51.2%. The over at -112 is priced at 50.4% with the margin out. The gap is 0.8 points. Pass on the total.

The puck line has Toronto -1.5 at +200 and Buffalo +1.5 at -245, which is 31.9% and 68.1% without the margin. The Leafs won by two goals or more in 18 of 82 games, and the Sabres lost by two or more in 20 of 82. Averaged, Leafs -1.5 lands 23.2% of the time against 31.9% priced. That is 8.7 points toward Sabres +1.5, on the same side as the pick. Our method bets the moneyline only, so it is a lean: Sabres +1.5 at -245. One bet on this game: the Sabres at +100.
