Oilers vs Kings Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Oilers at -120. Our number likes Edmonton 2.7 points more than the price does, and 2.7 is short of the 5 a bet needs.
The Edmonton Oilers are -120 on the road and the Los Angeles Kings +100 at home, at DraftKings. Without the margin, the market makes it 52.2% Edmonton and 47.8% Los Angeles. Our number has the Oilers at 54.9% and the Kings at 45.1%. The gap is 2.7 points toward Edmonton. The threshold for a bet is 5. Pass.
The two rates behind 54.9%
Our home win chance averages two things from 2025-26: how often the home team won at home, and how often the visitor lost on the road. A win in overtime or a shootout is a win. Neutral-site games would be left out, and neither team played one.
The Kings went 15-17-9 at home, which reads 15 wins, 17 regulation losses and 9 losses after regulation. That is a 36.6% home win rate over 41 games. The Oilers went 19-16-6 on the road and lost 22 of 41, a 53.7% road loss rate. The average is 45.1% for Los Angeles, and the other 54.9% is Edmonton’s.
Edmonton was a losing road team by this count, with 19 wins in 41. It is the favourite in our number anyway. The reason is the 36.6%: Los Angeles won 15 of its 41 home games.
Every book prices both sides a little short, so the two prices total more than 100%. That extra is the margin. At +100 and -120 the total is 104.5%. Removed, it leaves the Oilers at 52.2% and the Kings at 47.8%.
A gap of 2.7 is a difference of opinion, and a small one. The market gives the Kings more credit than their home record does, and it may know things our number cannot. Ours is 41 Kings home games and 41 Oilers road games from 2025-26. No game from 2026-27 is in it.
The Kings were better away from home
Los Angeles went 20-10-11 on the road, a 48.8% win rate, against 36.6% at home. The goals agree. At home the Kings scored 2.63 a game and allowed 3.12, outscored by 0.49. On the road it was 2.85 scored and 2.90 allowed.
The Oilers on the road scored 3.39 goals a game and allowed 3.15, which is 0.24 to the good, while winning 19 of 41. At home they went 22-14-5, a 53.7% win rate, scoring 3.49 and allowing 3.41.
Three points separated the two in the standings. Edmonton finished 41-30-11 with 93 points and outscored its opponents by 13. Los Angeles finished 35-27-20 with 90 points and was outscored by 22. Each lost the one playoff series it played: the Kings four games to none against the Colorado Avalanche, the Oilers four games to two against the Anaheim Ducks.
Edmonton won six more games than Los Angeles and finished only three points ahead. The difference is the Kings’ 20 losses after regulation, each worth a point. Los Angeles played 33 games that went past 60 minutes and won 13. In one-goal games the Kings went 21-6-20. The Oilers took 20 games past regulation, won 9, and went 13-11-11 by one goal.
The teams met three times in 2025-26, and the Kings won two: 4-3 in a shootout in Edmonton on 10 January and 1-0 in Los Angeles on 11 April. In between, the Oilers won 8-1 in Los Angeles on 26 February. Edmonton outscored Los Angeles 11-6 across the three and lost two of them, which is about all three games can show. The method does not use them.
Pick: No bet on the Oilers -120
Pass on the moneyline. The gap is 2.7 points toward Edmonton, a little over half the 5-point threshold.
The opening price was Oilers -120 and Kings +100, and it had not moved at the read: 12 October 2026, 16:04 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
The prices that would change the call
The Oilers become a bet at +101 or longer, whatever the Kings are priced at. Put plainly, Edmonton has to stop being the favourite, and it is -120 now. The Kings become a bet at +150 or longer on the same terms, against +100 now.
Then there is what no price shows. Nothing here states who is in either lineup on 13 October. Look at both before you bet.
Total and puck line: two more passes
The total is 6.5, over +114 and under -135. Oilers games went over 6.5 in 48 of 82. Kings games did it in 31 of 82. Edmonton’s road games averaged 6.54 goals, and Los Angeles’s home games 5.75.
Those over rates, 58.5% and 37.8%, average 48.2%. The over at +114 is priced at 44.9% once the margin is out. The gap is 3.3 points toward the over. That is under 5, so pass.
The puck line has the Oilers -1.5 at +200 and the Kings +1.5 at -245, or 31.9% and 68.1% without the margin. Edmonton won by two goals or more in 28 of 82 games. Los Angeles lost by two or more in 21 of 82. Averaged, Oilers -1.5 lands 29.9% of the time against 31.9% priced. The gap is 2.0 points toward Kings +1.5. Pass there too. The call on the game is no bet on the Oilers at -120.
