Canucks vs Islanders Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Canucks at +200. The Islanders are priced to win more than two home games in three, and last season they won 22 of 41.

The New York Islanders are -245 and the Vancouver Canucks +200 at DraftKings. With the margin removed, the Canucks’ chance is 31.9%. Our number gives them 42.7%. The gap is 10.8 points, more than twice the 5 a bet needs, so Vancouver is a bet.

How the number is built

Stated in one clause: we average the Islanders’ 2025-26 home win rate with the Canucks’ 2025-26 road loss rate, and a win in overtime or a shootout is a win. A game at a neutral site would be left out. Neither team had one.

The Islanders went 22-17-2 at home: 22 wins, 17 regulation losses and 2 losses after regulation, a 53.7% home win rate over 41 games. The Canucks went 16-22-3 on the road. That is 25 losses in 41, a 61.0% road loss rate. The two average to 57.3% for New York and leave 42.7% for Vancouver.

The margin is what a book adds to both prices so that together they come to more than 100%. At -245 and +200 they come to 104.3%. Removed, it leaves the Islanders at 68.1% and the Canucks at 31.9%.

Read the gap for where it sits. Vancouver was a bad road team in 2025-26 and our number charges it for that, at 61.0%. The disagreement is on the New York half. A 68.1% price asks the Islanders to be a far better home team than the one that won 53.7% of 41 home games. This page cannot say what the market sees that last season’s results do not, and it does not guess. No game from 2026-27 is in these figures.

The Islanders at home, the Canucks on the road

The Islanders at home scored 2.93 goals a game and allowed 2.98. A team outscored by 0.05 a game in its own building won 22 of 41 there. The Canucks’ road games ran against them by exactly a goal: 2.80 scored, 3.80 allowed.

How New York won that often is in the close games. The Islanders went 27-11-5 in one-goal games, 43 of their 82. They played 19 games past 60 minutes and won 14. Over the season they finished 43-34-5 with 91 points while being outscored by 8 goals, and they did not play in the playoffs.

Vancouver finished 25-49-8 with 58 points, was outscored by 100 goals and missed the playoffs as well. The Canucks’ 16 road wins came against 9 at home, where they went 9-27-5 and won 22.0% of 41 games. Only the road record goes into our number.

The Canucks went 15-9-8 in one-goal games. They played 18 games past 60 minutes and won 10, a smaller share than New York’s 14 of 19.

The teams played twice in 2025-26 and the visitor won each time. Vancouver won 4-1 at UBS Arena on 19 December, and New York won 4-3 in Vancouver on 19 January. Two games are not a rate, and the method leaves them out.

Pick: Canucks +200

Bet the Canucks on the moneyline at +200. The gap is 10.8 points against a 5-point threshold.

The line opened at Islanders -250 and Canucks +205. When it was read on 12 October 2026 at 16:02 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN, it was -245 and +200. Each price had moved 5 cents, and the Canucks’ is the one that got shorter.

What changes it

The price has room. With the Islanders left at -245, the Canucks stay a bet down to +133. At +166 or longer they are a bet whatever the Islanders are priced at. For New York to be the bet it would have to be -109 or better, and it is -245.

Nothing on this page says who plays for either team on 13 October. With a 10.8-point gap, that is the first thing to check before you bet.

The total and the puck line

The total is 6.5, over +110 and under -130. The Islanders’ games went over 6.5 in 36 of 82 and the Canucks’ in 46 of 82. New York’s home games averaged 5.91 goals and Vancouver’s road games 6.60.

The over rates are 43.9% and 56.1%, and they average exactly 50.0%. The over at +110 is priced at 45.7% with the margin removed. The gap is 4.3 points toward the over, short of 5. Pass on the total.

The puck line has the Islanders -1.5 at +110 and the Canucks +1.5 at -130, which is 45.7% and 54.3% with the margin out. It opened at -105 and -115. New York won by two goals or more in 16 of 82 games. Vancouver lost by two or more in 40 of 82. Averaged, Islanders -1.5 lands 34.1% of the time, so Canucks +1.5 lands 65.9% against 54.3% priced. The gap is 11.6 points. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this is a lean: Canucks +1.5 at -130. It rests on the same 2025-26 results as the moneyline and adds no new evidence. The bet is the Canucks at +200.
