Hockey predictions on Scores and Stats cover the NHL.

Each NHL prediction covers one game and goes up on the NHL hub, which also links every team page. This page lists the upcoming games and explains how hockey betting works.

How hockey betting works

Goals are scarce in hockey, and that shapes every market. The moneyline is the simplest bet: you pick the team that wins, and the price sets the payout. A minus price is what you risk to win $100, and a plus price is what $100 wins.

The puck line works like a point spread fixed at 1.5 goals. The favorite at -1.5 has to win by at least two. The underdog at +1.5 wins the bet by winning the game or by losing it by a single goal. One-goal games are common enough that this line changes the price a lot: backing the favorite on the puck line pays more than backing it on the moneyline, because it asks more.

The total is the combined number of goals, and you bet over or under it. Most US sportsbooks grade the moneyline, puck line and total with overtime and the shootout included, but not all of them do it the same way. Some also offer a regulation-only line, where a game tied after 60 minutes is its own result. Read your book’s rules on overtime before you bet.

Hockey prediction FAQ

Which hockey leagues do you cover? The NHL. Its predictions live on the NHL hub.

When do NHL predictions start? With each regular season, and the NHL hub lists them as they are published.

What does +1.5 on the puck line mean? You are backing the underdog with a goal and a half of cushion. The bet wins if that team wins or loses by one goal.
