How the number is built

The method is one clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with a win in overtime or a shootout counted as a win.

The Kraken went 19-17-5 at home last season: 19 wins, 17 regulation losses and 5 losses after regulation. That is a 46.3% home win rate over 41 games. The Golden Knights went 19-14-8 on the road, so they lost 22 of 41, a 53.7% road loss rate. The average of 46.3 and 53.7 is exactly 50.

The two halves meet in the middle. Seattle won less than half at home, and Vegas lost more than half on the road, by the same 3.7 points either side of even.

It is a new season. Rosters change over a summer, and nothing on this page measures what changed. The 2026-27 season opened on 29 September, and no game from it is in these figures.

The Kraken at home, the Golden Knights on the road

The goal figures line up as closely as the win rates. At home, the Kraken scored 2.95 goals a game and allowed 3.05. The Golden Knights on the road scored 2.90 and allowed 3.00. Each side was outscored by 0.10 a game in these conditions.

Seattle was far worse away from home: 15-20-6, a 36.6% win rate. Vegas was better at home, 20-12-9, but still won fewer than half there, 48.8%.

Across the full season the Golden Knights finished 39-26-17 with 95 points and outscored opponents by 15 goals. Seventeen of their losses came after regulation, and 26 of their 82 games went past 60 minutes. In one-goal games they went 16-10-17.

In the playoffs Vegas won three series. They beat the Utah Mammoth 4-2, the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 and the Colorado Avalanche 4-0, then lost 4-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes. None of that is in the method, which uses the regular season only.

The Kraken finished 34-37-11 with 79 points and were outscored by 37 goals. They lost by two goals or more in 32 of 82 games, and did not reach the playoffs.

The teams met four times in 2025-26 and Seattle won three. The Kraken won 2-1 in overtime at home on 11 October, 3-2 at Vegas on 31 January and 4-3 in a shootout at home on 9 April. Vegas won 4-1 at home on 15 April. Two of Seattle’s three wins came after regulation. Four games prove nothing about a fifth.
