The Sabres won 26 of 41 at home last season. Our number makes them 53.7%: bet Buffalo at +106 or better, Minnesota at +142 or better.

Our number is 53.7% for the Buffalo Sabres and 46.3% for the Minnesota Wild. No line had been posted for this game as of 28 September 2026. A side becomes a bet when the market, with its margin removed, sits at least 5 points below our number for it.

How the number is built

The method is one clause: our home win chance is the average of the home team’s 2025-26 home win rate and the visitor’s 2025-26 road loss rate, with a win in overtime or a shootout counted as a win.

The Sabres went 26-10-5 at home last season: 26 wins, 10 regulation losses and 5 losses after regulation. That is a 63.4% home win rate over 41 games. The Wild went 23-14-4 on the road, so they lost 18 of 41, a 43.9% road loss rate. The average of the two is 53.7% for the Sabres, which leaves 46.3% for the Wild.

Both halves are strong for their side. Buffalo won 63.4% at home, and Minnesota won 56.1% on the road, so the two rates pull against each other and the number lands close to even.

It is a new season. Rosters change over a summer, and nothing on this page measures what changed. The 2026-27 season opened on 29 September, and no game from it is in these figures.

The Sabres at home, the Wild on the road

At home, the Sabres scored 3.63 goals a game and allowed 2.90. The Wild on the road scored 3.46 and allowed 3.05. The home side scored 0.17 a game more and allowed 0.15 fewer.

Minnesota was as good away as at home. The Wild won 23 on the road and 23 at home, where they went 23-10-8. Buffalo’s road record was 24-13-4, a 58.5% win rate.

Across the full season the Sabres finished 50-23-9 with 109 points and outscored opponents by 47 goals, scoring 3.51 a game and allowing 2.94. In one-goal games they went 15-3-9. In the playoffs they beat the Boston Bruins 4-2, then lost 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens.

The Wild finished 46-24-12 with 104 points and outscored opponents by 32 goals, scoring 3.32 a game and allowing 2.93. Twenty-seven of their 82 games went past 60 minutes. In the playoffs they beat the Dallas Stars 4-2, then lost 4-1 to the Colorado Avalanche.

The teams met twice in 2025-26 and split, both times after regulation. Buffalo won 3-2 in a shootout in Minnesota on 29 November. Minnesota won 5-4 in overtime in Buffalo on 17 January. Two games prove nothing about a third.

The price

There is no line yet, so the page states the prices at which this becomes a bet.

The Sabres need the market to rate them at 48.7% or less, with the margin removed. At +106 or better, that holds whatever Minnesota is priced at. The Wild need 41.3% or less, which +142 or better guarantees.

Our number has Buffalo 3.7 points above even. Both break points are underdog prices, so a Sabres bet needs the market to make them the underdog at home.

Pick: Sabres at +106 or better, Wild at +142 or better

Our number is 53.7% for Buffalo. With no line posted, the call is the pair of prices above. Between them, pass.

It rests on 82 games from last season: 41 at home for the Sabres and 41 on the road for the Wild.

What changes it

The price. The full page re-reads the line on the day of the game. A price slightly short of either break point may still qualify once the book’s margin is taken out, and that check is made against the posted pair.

The summer is the other thing. A season of home and road results says how these teams played in 2025-26. Nothing on this page says who is in either lineup on 6 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
