Lightning vs Jets Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet. Our number has Tampa Bay ahead in Winnipeg, but by only 2.9 points more than the price does, short of the 5 we need.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are -125 and the Winnipeg Jets +105 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 53.2% for Tampa Bay and 46.8% for Winnipeg. Our number is 56.1% for the Lightning and 43.9% for the Jets. The two agree on the side and are close on the size, so the price is close to right.
How 43.9% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out of both splits.
The Jets went 19-16-6 at Canada Life Centre, a 46.3% home win rate. The Lightning went 24-12-5 on the road, a 41.5% road loss rate. Average the two and Winnipeg is 43.9%, Tampa Bay 56.1%. That is 2.9 points better for the Lightning than the price.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -125 and +105 they come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Lightning are 53.2% and the Jets 46.8%.
Our rule is fixed before the pick: a side is a bet only when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points. A 2.9-point gap does not clear it.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. The Lightning are 10-3-2, 2-3-2 on the road, and beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Thursday 5 November. Andrei Vasilevskiy has played 12 of their games and Dennis Hildeby 3. The Jets are 6-8-3, 3-4-1 at home, and beat the Vancouver Canucks 6-2 on the same night. Stuart Skinner has played 12 of their games, Nico Daws 6 and Clay Stevenson 5.
Winnipeg at home, Tampa Bay on the road
At home last season the Jets scored 3.02 a game and allowed 3.10, a deficit of 0.08. The Lightning on the road scored 3.73 and allowed 2.83, a surplus of 0.90. Tampa Bay was the stronger road team by goals, and that is what our number carries.
The halves the method leaves out point the same way. Tampa Bay at home went 25-14-1, a 62.5% win rate, scoring 3.27 and allowing 2.75. Winnipeg on the road went 16-19-6, 39.0%, scoring 2.61 and allowing 3.24. Neither half is in our number.
Over the full season the Lightning went 50-26-6 with 106 points and outscored opponents by 59. In the playoffs they lost a 3-4 series to the Montreal Canadiens. The Jets went 35-35-12 with 82 points, were outscored by 29, and missed the playoffs.
Close games split differently. Winnipeg went 16-12-12 in one-goal games and won 7 of the 19 that went past regulation. Tampa Bay went 15-10-6 in one-goal games and won 10 of its 16 past 60 minutes. The Lightning won by two goals or more in 35 of 82 games.
The teams split two meetings in 2025-26, each winning 4-1 at home. Tampa Bay won 4-1 on Thursday 29 January 2026 in its own arena; that game is in neither half of our number. Winnipeg won 4-1 on Thursday 5 March 2026 at Canada Life Centre, which sits inside both halves: the Jets’ home record and the Lightning’s road record.
Pick: No bet
No bet on the moneyline. The gap is 2.9 points toward the Lightning against a threshold of 5.
The line read Lightning -125 and Jets +105 on 7 November 2026 at 16:33 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, so the market has not moved.
What kills the bet
The price moving toward our number turns this into a bet. Against the Jets at +105, the Lightning become a bet at -104 or longer; that is also the price at which they are a bet whatever Winnipeg is priced at. They are -125 now.
For the Jets to become the bet, they would have to be +157 or longer whatever the Lightning price, or +183 or longer against Tampa Bay at -125. They are +105.
ESPN’s injury list has Josh Morrissey, Vladislav Namestnikov and Nick Bjugstad on injured reserve for Winnipeg, with Haydn Fleury day-to-day with a hand injury. Tampa Bay lists Yanni Gourde on injured reserve with a hip injury. No goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over +100 and under -120. The Jets’ games went over 6.5 in 39 of 82, the Lightning’s in 38 of 82. Winnipeg’s home games averaged 6.12 goals, Tampa Bay’s road games 6.56.
That is 47.6% and 46.3%, an average of 47.0% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 47.8% and the under at 52.2%, so our number leans to the under by 0.9 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, Tampa Bay is -1.5 at +185 and Winnipeg +1.5 at -225, which is 33.6% and 66.4% without the margin. The Lightning won by two goals or more in 35 of 82 games, and the Jets lost by two or more in 23 of 82. Averaged, Lightning -1.5 lands 35.4% of the time against 33.6% priced, a gap of 1.7 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean toward Tampa Bay, and a thin one. Nothing on this game clears 5 points: no bet.
