Golden Knights vs Sabres Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Take the Sabres. Our Golden Knights vs Sabres prediction makes Buffalo a 61.6% winner at home without Alex Lyon, and the price says 49.6%.
The Buffalo Sabres are -108 and the Vegas Golden Knights -112 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 49.6% for Buffalo and 50.4% for Vegas. The market calls this a coin flip with the visitors a fraction ahead. Our number has the Sabres at 61.6%, a gap of 12.0 points.
How 61.6% is reached
Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins, and neutral-site games are left out. A side is a bet when our number and the market’s differ by at least 5 points.
Lyon is on injured reserve with an upper-body injury (ESPN injury list, read 7 November 2026, 16:33 UTC; listed since 15 October, 22 November given as his return date). When a team’s starting goalie is out, the method is run again on the games without him. Lyon appeared in 36 of Buffalo’s 82 games last season, one more than Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s 35, with Colten Ellis in 16. He played in 18 of the 41 home games the method reads.
In the 23 home games without Lyon, the Sabres went 16-4-3, a 69.57% home win rate. The Golden Knights went 19-14-8 on the road, a 53.7% road loss rate. Average the two: (69.57% + 53.7%) / 2 gives 61.6% for Buffalo and 38.4% for Vegas. That is 12.0 points better for the Sabres than the price.
The full home season gives the same side. Buffalo went 26-10-5 at KeyBank Center, a 63.4% home win rate; averaged with Vegas’s 53.7%, the Sabres are 58.5% and the gap is 8.9 points. Without Lyon the home record was better, so taking him out widens the gap.
The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -108 and -112 they come to 104.8%. Taken out, the Sabres are 49.6% and the Golden Knights 50.4%.
Every input is from 2025-26. This season is not in the figures. The Sabres are 8-5-3, 4-4-0 at home, and beat Columbus 5-2 at home on Friday 6 November. Luukkonen has played 11 of their games and Ellis 6. The Golden Knights are 11-5-2, 5-2-2 on the road, and won 2-1 in Detroit on Thursday 5 November. Carter Hart has played 10 of their games and Adin Hill 8. Vegas’s start is the better one, and our method does not read it.
Buffalo at home, Vegas on the road
The Sabres at home scored 3.63 a game and allowed 2.9, a surplus of 0.73. The Golden Knights on the road scored 2.9 and allowed 3.0, a deficit of 0.1. Those are the two halves in our number.
The halves the method leaves out: Buffalo on the road went 24-13-4, a 58.5% win rate, scoring 3.39 and allowing 2.98. Vegas at home went 20-12-9, 48.8%, scoring 3.56 and allowing 3.1. The Golden Knights scored 0.66 fewer goals a game away from home than in their own arena by those two averages; the Sabres held up on the road.
Over the full season Buffalo finished with 109 points to Vegas’s 95. The Sabres went 50-23-9 with a goal difference of 47, then beat Boston 4-2 in the playoffs before losing 4-3 to Montreal. The Golden Knights went 39-26-17 with a goal difference of 15, then beat Utah 4-2, Anaheim 4-2 and Colorado 4-0 before losing 4-2 to Carolina.
Vegas lived in close games. The Golden Knights went 16-10-17 in one-goal games and won 9 of the 26 that went past regulation. Buffalo went 15-3-9 in one-goal games and won 8 of its 17 past 60 minutes. The Sabres won by two goals or more in 35 of 82 games.
Buffalo won both 2025-26 meetings. The 3-2 win on Tuesday 3 March 2026 was in Buffalo and sits in both full-season halves of our number. The 2-0 win on Tuesday 17 March 2026 was in Vegas and is in neither half.
Pick: Sabres -108
Bet the Sabres on the moneyline at -108. The gap is 12.0 points toward Buffalo on its home games without Lyon, against a threshold of 5, and 8.9 on the full home season.
The line read Sabres -108 and Golden Knights -112 on 7 November 2026 at 16:33 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at the same prices, so the market has not moved since opening.
What kills the bet
A shorter Buffalo price. At -130 or longer the Sabres are a bet whatever Vegas is priced at; against Vegas at -112, they stay a bet down to -222.
For the Golden Knights to become the bet, they would have to be +199 or longer whatever the Buffalo price; against Buffalo at -108, +284 or longer. They are -112.
The rest is on the ice, and Vegas’s 11-5-2 start is not in our number. Besides Lyon, ESPN’s injury list has Konsta Helenius out with an upper-body injury, Justin Danforth on injured reserve with an upper-body injury and Matt Grzelcyk on injured reserve with a lower-body injury for Buffalo. Vegas lists Parker Wotherspoon on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. No other goalie is on either list. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 6.5, over -105 and under -115. The Sabres’ games went over 6.5 in 38 of 82, and so did the Golden Knights’. Buffalo’s home games averaged 6.53 goals, Vegas’s road games 5.9.
That puts our over at 46.3%. With the margin removed the over is priced at 48.9% and the under at 51.1%, so our number leans to the under by 2.6 points. Pass on the total.
On the puck line, as read, Vegas is -1.5 at -245 and Buffalo +1.5 at +200, which is 68.1% and 31.9% without the margin. Over the full season the Golden Knights won by two goals or more in 23 of 82 games, and the Sabres lost by two or more in 20 of 82. Averaged, Vegas -1.5 lands 26.2% of the time against 68.1% priced, a gap of 41.8 points toward Sabres +1.5 at +200. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, on the same side. One bet on this game: the Sabres at -108.
