Hurricanes vs Canucks Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

No bet on the Canucks at +225. Carolina is the right favourite, and the price has it within 2.2 points of where our number does.

The Carolina Hurricanes are -278 and the Vancouver Canucks +225 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 70.5% for Carolina and 29.5% for Vancouver. Our number gives the Canucks 31.7%. Both have the Hurricanes as a heavy road favourite.

How 31.7% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Games at a neutral site are in neither half, and neither team had one.

The Canucks went 9-27-5 at Rogers Arena: 9 wins, 27 regulation losses and 5 after regulation, a 22.0% home win rate over 41 games. The Hurricanes went 24-12-5 on the road and lost 17 of 41, a 41.5% road loss rate. The midpoint is 31.7% for Vancouver and 68.3% for Carolina.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At -278 and +225 they come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Hurricanes are 70.5% and the Canucks 29.5%.

Thatcher Demko is on injured reserve with a hip injury (ESPN injury list, read 19 October 2026, 22:14 UTC). He was not Vancouver’s starter in the season our number uses: he appeared in 20 of the Canucks’ 82 games, against 47 for Kevin Lankinen and 21 for Nikita Tolopilo. On the 33 home games he did not play, Vancouver went 7-22-4, a 21.2% home win rate, and our number would be 31.3% for the Canucks. That is 1.8 points from the price, also no bet.

Every input is from 2025-26: 41 Vancouver home games and 41 Carolina road games. This season is not in the figures, and it says the same thing louder. The Canucks are 2-7-1, without a win in seven games since 4 October, and come home from a six-game road trip that ended with a 4-2 loss in Tampa on Saturday. The Hurricanes are 7-2-1, beat Vancouver 7-2 at home on 8 October, and lost 3-2 in Calgary on Sunday night, so this is their third game in four days.

Vancouver at home, Carolina on the road

Over the full season the Canucks at home scored 2.46 a game and allowed 3.90, a deficit of 1.44. The Hurricanes on the road scored 3.29 and allowed 2.78, a surplus of 0.51.

The halves the method leaves out: Vancouver on the road went 16-22-3, a 39.0% win rate, scoring 2.80 and allowing 3.80. Carolina at home went 29-10-2, 70.7%, scoring 3.93 and allowing 3.07. The Canucks won more often away from Rogers Arena than in it.

Over the full season the two finished 55 points apart. The Hurricanes went 53-22-7 with 113 points and outscored opponents by 56, then won three playoff series, over Ottawa 4-0, Philadelphia 4-0 and Montreal 4-1, before losing 4-2 to Vegas. The Canucks went 25-49-8 with 58 points, were outscored by 100, and missed the playoffs.

Carolina went 24-4-7 in one-goal games and won 14 of the 21 that went past regulation. Vancouver went 15-9-8 and won 10 of its 18.

The Hurricanes won both meetings in 2025-26. Their 6-4 win in Vancouver on 4 March is in both halves of our number. Their 4-3 overtime win at home on 14 November is in neither.

Pick: No bet on the Canucks +225

Pass on the moneyline. The gap is 2.2 points toward Vancouver, against a threshold of 5.

The line read Hurricanes -278 and Canucks +225 on 19 October 2026 at 22:14 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Carolina -265 and Vancouver +215, and has moved toward the Hurricanes since.

What changes it

A longer Vancouver price. At +275 or longer, the Canucks are a bet whatever Carolina is priced at.

For Carolina to become the bet, the Hurricanes would have to drift to -172 or longer, whatever Vancouver is priced at. They are -278.

Kevin Lankinen has appeared in seven of Vancouver’s ten games and Leevi Merilainen in six; Brandon Bussi and Pyotr Kochetkov have appeared in five each of Carolina’s ten. ESPN names no starter for Tuesday. Carolina lists Taylor Hall, Seth Jarvis, Jordan Staal and Alexander Nikishin on injured reserve and Mark Jankowski as out. Vancouver lists Marco Rossi as day-to-day, and Jack Thompson, Akil Thomas and Mackenzie MacEachern on injured reserve besides Demko. Check the lineups before you bet.

The total and the puck line

The total is 6.5, over -108 and under -112. The Canucks’ games went over 6.5 in 46 of 82, the Hurricanes’ in 44 of 82. Vancouver’s home games averaged 6.36 goals, Carolina’s road games 6.07.

That is 56.1% and 53.7%, an average of 54.9% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 49.6% and the under at 50.4%, so our number leans to the over, by 5.3 points. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this is a lean, not a bet: over 6.5 at -108.

The puck line has Carolina -1.5 at -115 and Vancouver +1.5 at -105, which is 51.1% and 48.9% without the margin. The Hurricanes won by two goals or more in 29 of 82 games, and the Canucks lost by two or more in 40 of 82. Averaged, Carolina -1.5 lands 42.1% of the time against 51.1% priced, a gap of 9.0 points toward Canucks +1.5 at -105. That is a lean too, not a bet. The call on the game stays no bet.
