The Titans played without two-time NFL leading rusher Derrick Henry for the latter half of the season due to injury. They will welcome him back and, along with a few key offseason acquisitions, look to get right back to the top of the AFC in 2022.

The Titans were 8-2 after ten weeks, but they had lost Henry in Week 8 to fractured foot. Tennessee would then lose three of its next four games, dropping one it shouldn’t have to Houston. Head coach Mike Vrabel’s team did rebound to win its final three games of the season, but disappointment loomed.

Tennessee actually got Henry back for the playoff game, but they just couldn’t get anything going against a strong Bengals defense. The Titans’ season would end with a 19-16 playoff loss.

Titans Key Losses Heading Into 2022

The Titans also lost backup RB D’Onta Foreman to Carolina. Tight end Anthony Firkser and LB Rashaan Evans are now both in Atlanta and S Dane Cruikshank is a Chicago Bear.

2022 Tennessee Titans Team Preview

The Titans return one of the more solid offensive lines and a healthy Henry. The Titans RB led the NFL in rushing and rushing touchdowns in 2019 and 2020. Last season in just eight games, Henry rushed for 937 yards and still had double-digit – 10 – touchdowns.

Ryan Tannehill (3,734 yds., 21 TDs) returns at QB and the Titans signed former Rams WR Robert Woods and drafted big (6-2, 225) wide receiver Treylon Burks out of Arkansas. The Titans also added a potential quarterback of the future in Malik Willis. Regardless, the key to the Titans offense is running the ball.

They finished fifth in the NFL last season rushing for 141.4 yards per game. With the offensive line returning along with Henry, Vrabel will once again pound the rock in 2022.

2022 Tennessee Titans Schedule

The Titans have the luxury of playing in the AFC South, which could very well be the worst division in the NFL. For Tennessee, it does mean four potential easy wins – two games each with Houston (4-13) and Jacksonville (3-14). Last season, Tennessee let one of those games with Houston slip away, but the Titans did beat Indianapolis twice for a 5-1 division record.

Tennessee also gets the NFC East, the weakest division in the NFC but plays what could be the toughest division in the NFL this season – the AFC West. The Chiefs have won the last six division titles in a row.

The Chargers and Broncos are among this year’s top 5 or 6 Super Bowl favorites. The Raiders have Derek Carr and WR Davante Adams and new head coach Josh McDaniels who has worked wonders with Tom Brady and New England rookie QB Mac Jones.

The Titans have won at least nine games in each of the last six seasons. They won 12 last year and 11 the year before, winning division titles in 2020 and 2021.

2022 Titans Regular Season Win Total Prediction

With the AFC South providing at the very least five wins – the Colts should be better with Matt Ryan at quarterback – the Titans only need to find five more wins to go Over this total. Yes, there are a couple of tough ones on the schedule.

Tennessee plays at Buffalo on a Monday night in September. They are at Kansas City, at Green Bay on a Thursday, and at the Chargers in mid-December. Still, there are enough wins on the schedule for Vrabel and Tennessee to get double digit wins for a third straight season.
