No bet on Ravens -4.5 – Ravens at Falcons prediction, odds and best picks

Baltimore lays 4.5 in Atlanta, and my number is Ravens by 2.4. No bet on this game at the early line.

Baltimore visits Atlanta on Sunday night, 11 October, kickoff 8:20 PM ET. First the record. Our last graded card, Week 3, went 3-3: Cleveland +2.5, the under 42 in Panthers at Browns and the Giants -3 won; New England +3, the under 43.5 in Raiders at Saints and the over 39.5 in Titans at Giants lost. At one unit a bet and prices under even money, that is a fraction of a unit down. Week 4 is still to play.

How the card works, same as every week. My number is last season’s scoring for and against, 17 games each, turned into a margin, with two points for the home side. I bet a side or a total only when the market sits three points or more away from that number. One unit on every bet. A pass is part of the card, and this is one.

No bet: Ravens -4.5 (-110)

Both teams went 8-9 last season. Baltimore scored 424 and allowed 398, plus 26. Atlanta scored 353 and allowed 401, minus 48. Same record, 74 points apart in what happened on the field.

So who should be favoured? Baltimore, by four and a half on a neutral field and by two and a half once Atlanta gets two points for home. The market has the Ravens by 4.5. That is a gap of two points, and my bar is three.

The value, such as it is, sits with Atlanta. Worst price to bet: Falcons +5.5 (-110). At +5 it is still a pass.

The case for Baltimore, and why it is not enough

Split last season by venue and the Ravens look like a different team. Baltimore went 5-3 on the road, scoring 28.4 and allowing 21.1, and 3-6 at home. Atlanta at home scored 21.2 and allowed 25.8. Put Baltimore’s road figures against Atlanta’s home figures and the Ravens come out nearly 12 points better.

This season agrees. Baltimore is 2-1, and both wins came away from home: 41-23 at Indianapolis and 34-31 at Dallas on Sunday, 37.5 points a game on the road. The one loss was 24-17 at home to New Orleans. Atlanta is 1-2, and its only home game was a 34-3 loss to Carolina.

Personally, I think that split is the most interesting thing on this page. It is also eight Baltimore road games and eight Atlanta home games, against seventeen a side, and my rule is built on the seventeen. I would rather pass than bend the rule for a number I happen to like.

Concede the other side too

Atlanta won 35-14 at Green Bay on Thursday 24 September, its only win of the season and a result that says the Falcons can travel. Last season they went 5-5 in one-score games and lost five by more than 4.5; Baltimore lost six by that much.

These two did not meet last season, and our game records begin in 2025, so there is no head-to-head in this card.

No bet: total 48.5 (-110)

Forty-eight and a half at DraftKings and BetUS, 47.5 at William Hill. Baltimore scored 24.9 a game last season and allowed 23.4; Atlanta scored 20.8 and allowed 23.6. Run each offence against the other defence and I land on 46.4, two points under the market. Short of three again.

Baltimore’s games have run hot this season, totalling 64, 41 and 65. Atlanta’s have totalled 33, 37 and 49. Last season Atlanta’s games went under 48.5 in 11 of 17 and Baltimore’s in 8. The under becomes a bet at 49.5; at 48.5 we sit it out.

Where the price stands

This is an early line, read 13 days before kickoff. Three US sportsbooks, read on 28 September and last posted on 13 September, the first Sunday of the season. DraftKings and BetUS have Baltimore -4.5 at -110; William Hill has -4 at -115. DraftKings is the reference line, and it pays to shop around on a number posted that early.

DraftKings also has Atlanta +164 to win outright and Baltimore -196. With the margin taken out, that is about a 36 percent chance for the Falcons. Nothing there for us either.

What would change it

Falcons +5.5 or better, or a total of 49.5 or more, and this page carries a bet. The full version re-reads every book in the week of the game.

No bet on Ravens at Falcons, and no apology for it. A card that bets every game is not a card anyone should follow.

The call comes from last season’s 17-game rates and the prices read on 28 September. The rest of the Week 5 card is on our NFL predictions page.
