Jets vs Blackhawks Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
No bet on the Blackhawks at +124. Our number leans to Chicago by 4.8 points, and the bar for a bet is 5.
The Winnipeg Jets are -148 and the Chicago Blackhawks +124 at DraftKings. Strip out the margin and the market makes Winnipeg 57.2% and Chicago 42.8%. Our number has the Blackhawks at 47.6%. The Jets are still the likelier winner by both counts, but the market is the keener of the two on them, and the difference stops 0.2 points short of a bet.
Two weak halves make 47.6%
Our home win chance averages two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own building and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. An overtime or shootout win counts as a win. Games at a neutral site sit in neither half; neither team played one.
Chicago went 14-19-8 at the United Center: 14 wins, 19 regulation losses, 8 losses after regulation. That is a 34.1% home win rate over 41 games, a poor number by any standard. Winnipeg’s road record was nearly as bad from the other side: 16-19-6, so 25 of 41 road games lost, a 61.0% road loss rate. Average the two and Chicago comes out at 47.6%, Winnipeg at 52.4%.
So the Blackhawks are not close to a bet because they were good at home. They were not. They get there because the Jets lost so often away from Winnipeg.
The margin is the cushion a book adds to both prices, so the pair adds to more than 100%. At -148 and +124 the two add to 104.3%. Removed, the Jets are 57.2% and the Blackhawks 42.8%.
A 4.8-point lean built on last season’s road and home records deserves no more trust than its inputs. It is 41 home games for one team and 41 road games for the other, and none of them were played this season. Both teams won their openers on Tuesday at home: Chicago beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3, and Winnipeg beat the Minnesota Wild 5-2. Neither score is in the figures.
Chicago at home, Winnipeg on the road
Look at goals and the two halves come out almost level. At home the Blackhawks scored 2.61 a game and allowed 3.29, outscored by 0.68. The Jets on the road scored the same 2.61 and allowed 3.24, outscored by 0.63.
Neither team was much better in its other building. Chicago went 15-20-6 on the road, a 36.6% win rate, scoring 2.59 and allowing 3.41. Winnipeg was 19-16-6 at home, 46.3%, scoring 3.02 and allowing 3.10. The method reads only the Blackhawks’ home half and the Jets’ road half.
Across the whole season the gap between them was bigger than these halves suggest. The Jets finished 35-35-12 with 82 points and were outscored by 29. The Blackhawks finished 29-39-14 with 72 points and were outscored by 62. Neither reached the playoffs.
Close games kept Chicago’s record from looking worse. The Blackhawks went 13-8-14 in one-goal games and won only 7 of the 21 that went past 60 minutes; 16 of their 29 wins came by two goals or more. Winnipeg went 16-12-12 in one-goal games, won 7 of 19 past regulation, and won 19 of its 35 by two or more.
The Jets won three of the four meetings in 2025-26. Two were in Chicago: the Blackhawks won 2-0 on 19 January, and the Jets won 4-3 in overtime on 31 March. Those two are the only meetings in our number, one game each in Chicago’s 41 home games and in Winnipeg’s 41 road games. The Jets’ 6-3 and 3-2 overtime wins in Winnipeg, on 30 October and 3 March, fall in neither half.
Pick: No bet on the Blackhawks +124
Pass on the moneyline. The gap is 4.8 points toward Chicago, and the threshold is 5.
The line opened at Jets -148 and Blackhawks +124 and had not moved when it was read on 14 October 2026 at 16:20 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
What makes it a bet
Very little. Against the Jets at -148, the Blackhawks at +126 would clear the bar, two cents longer than now. At +135 or longer Chicago is a bet whatever Winnipeg is priced at.
The Jets need a far bigger move: +111 or longer before they become the bet, and they are -148.
Price is one unknown; the lineups are the other. This page states nothing about who plays for either team on 15 October. Check both before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 5.5, over -125 and under +105. The Blackhawks’ games went over 5.5 in 42 of 82, the Jets’ in 47 of 82. Chicago’s home games averaged 5.90 goals, Winnipeg’s road games 5.85.
That is 51.2% and 57.3%, an average of 54.3%. The over at -125 is priced at 53.2% once the margin is out, a gap of 1.1 points. Pass on the total.
The puck line has the Jets -1.5 at +170 and the Blackhawks +1.5 at -205, which is 35.5% and 64.5% without the margin. Chicago lost by two goals or more in 31 of 82 games. Winnipeg won by two or more in 19 of 82. Averaged, Jets -1.5 lands 30.5% of the time against 35.5% priced, a gap of 5.0 points toward Blackhawks +1.5. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this is a lean, not a bet: Blackhawks +1.5 at -205, sitting exactly on the bar. The call on the game stays no bet.
