Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Back Manchester City to beat Brighton at the Etihad. Our number has City 11.5 points above the market, against the 5 a bet needs.
DraftKings lists Manchester City at -160, the draw at +360 and Brighton & Hove Albion at +370, read on 29 October 2026 at 19:22 UTC. The book’s margin is 4.6%: the extra it builds in so the three prices add to more than 100%. With that removed, the market reads City 58.9%, the draw 20.8% and Brighton 20.3%.
We have City at 70.4%, the draw at 18.6% and Brighton at 11.0%. That puts City 11.5 points above the market, the draw 2.2 below and Brighton 9.3 below. Only one outcome clears the 5-point threshold.
How 70.4% is reached
Each side’s expected goals start from the league’s average goals at that venue. That average is then scaled by the side’s scoring rate at its venue and the opponent’s conceding rate at the other venue, both measured against the league. A Poisson model on the two figures gives the home win, the draw and the away win. A result is a bet when our chance is at least 5 points above the market’s.
Both teams run on their 2025-26 venue records, 19 games each, against that season’s league averages over 380 games: 1.53 goals a game for the home side and 1.22 for the visitor. City’s home scoring was 1.55 times the league rate, and Brighton conceded away at 0.90 of it. That gives City 2.12 expected goals. Brighton’s away scoring was 0.95 of the league rate and City’s home conceding 0.6 of it, which leaves Brighton 0.70.
This season so far
None of this season is in the number. Eight games in, Manchester City are 1st of 20 with 21 points from 7-0-1 (wins, draws, losses), 20 scored and 9 conceded. Brighton are 3rd with 16 points from 5-1-2, 23 scored and 7 conceded.
The early venue records cut both ways. City are 4-0-0 at home, scoring 2.75 a game and conceding 1.50, against 2.37 and 0.74 last season. Brighton are 2-0-2 away, scoring 2.50 a game and conceding 1.50, where last season they managed 1.16 and let in 1.37. Four games a side is a small sample, and we read these figures as context only. They sit outside the method, and on their own they prove nothing.
Manchester City at home, Brighton on the road
These are the two halves the number uses. At home in 2025-26, City went 14-3-2 in 19, scoring 45 and conceding 14: 2.37 a game for and 0.74 against. Brighton on the road went 5-5-9 in 19, scoring 22 and conceding 26: 1.16 a game for and 1.37 against.
The other halves are left out. City away last season were 9-6-4, scoring 1.68 a game and conceding 1.11. Brighton at home were 9-6-4, scoring 1.58 and conceding 1.05. Neither record describes a Brighton visit to the Etihad, so neither feeds the number.
The season around it
Last season City finished 2nd of 20 with 78 points from 23-9-6, scoring 77 and conceding 35. Brighton finished 8th with 53 points from 14-11-13, scoring 52 and conceding 46.
The meetings run the other way. City have not won any of the last five against Brighton. At the Etihad the results were 2-2 on 15 March 2025, 1-1 on 7 January 2026 and 2-2 on 28 October 2026, three days before this game. At Brighton, Brighton won 2-1 on 9 November 2024 and 2-1 on 31 August 2025. The method does not take the meetings as a separate input, and the 28 October game falls in this season, which the number leaves out.
Pick: Manchester City -160
Manchester City to win. Our 70.4% against the market’s 58.9% is a gap of 11.5 points, and the threshold is 5. The price is -160 at DraftKings, read 29 October 2026 at 19:22 UTC. That is the only read on record, so this page shows no opening price beside it.
What kills the bet
The price. City stay a bet down to -212. At a shorter price the gap falls under 5 points and this becomes a pass. The draw would need +604 or longer to become the bet, and Brighton +1495 or longer. Each of those assumes the 4.6% margin holds.
The team sheets. This page does not state who is available on 31 October. Check the lineups before you bet.
The total
The total is 3.5 goals, over +100 and under -125. With the margin removed, the market has the over at 47.4% and the under at 52.6%. Our number has the over at 31.3% and the under at 68.7%, a gap of 16.1 points on the under. The method never bets the goals, so this figure is for reference only.
City’s 8 league games this season include 3 that went over 3.5, and Brighton’s include 4. Last season the count was 8 of 38 for City and 7 of 38 for Brighton. At 2.5 goals, our number has the over at 53.5%.
