Flames vs Golden Knights Best Pick, Prediction and Odds
Bet the Flames at +235. Vegas is the likelier winner, but our number gives Calgary 39.0% against the price’s 28.6%, a 10.4-point gap.
The Vegas Golden Knights are -290 and the Calgary Flames +235 at DraftKings. Once the margin is out, that prices Vegas at 71.4% and Calgary at 28.6%. Our number has the Golden Knights at 61.0%. We agree on the favourite. The market just asks a great deal more of Vegas than its home record supplies.
Where 61.0% comes from
The number is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Overtime and shootout wins count as wins. Neutral-site games are left out of both; neither team had one.
The Flames’ road record carries almost all of it. Calgary went 11-26-4 away from home and lost 30 of 41, a 73.2% road loss rate. The Golden Knights went 20-12-9 at T-Mobile Arena: 20 wins, 12 regulation losses, 9 after regulation, a 48.8% home win rate over 41 games. Average the two and Vegas is 61.0%, Calgary 39.0%.
That is the part to notice. Vegas won fewer than half its home games last season. A price of -290 reads like a team that rarely lost at home, and the Golden Knights lost 21 of 41 there.
The margin is the extra a book puts into both prices so they add to more than 100%. At -290 and +235 they add to 104.2%. Taken out, the Golden Knights are 71.4% and the Flames 28.6%.
A gap this wide should make anyone check the inputs before the conclusion. Ours are 41 home games for Vegas and 41 road games for Calgary, all from 2025-26, and nothing from the summer or this season. Both teams won on the road on Tuesday: Vegas 5-2 in Nashville, Calgary 4-2 in Anaheim. Neither game is in the figures.
Vegas at home, Calgary on the road
The goals make the Flames’ road record look earned. Calgary scored 2.24 a game on the road and allowed 3.71, outscored by 1.47. Vegas at home scored 3.56 and allowed 3.10, a surplus of 0.46.
Calgary was a different team in its own building: 23-13-5, a 56.1% win rate, scoring 2.93 and allowing 2.61. Vegas on the road went 19-14-8, 46.3%, scoring 2.90 and allowing 3.00. The method uses only the Golden Knights’ home half and the Flames’ road half.
Over the full season Vegas was clearly the better side. The Golden Knights finished 39-26-17 with 95 points and outscored opponents by 15, then won three playoff series: they beat Utah 4-2, Anaheim 4-2 and Colorado 4-0 before losing 4-2 to Carolina. The Flames finished 34-39-9 with 77 points, were outscored by 47 and missed the playoffs.
Vegas’s regular season was full of close games. The Golden Knights lost 17 times after regulation, won 9 of the 26 that went past 60 minutes, and went 16-10-17 in one-goal games. Only 23 of their 39 wins came by two goals or more. Calgary went 14-6-9 in one-goal games and won 7 of 16 past regulation.
Vegas won three of the four meetings in 2025-26. Both games in Vegas went to the Golden Knights, 6-1 on 18 October and 6-3 on 2 April, and those two are the only meetings in our number: each is one of Vegas’s 41 home games and one of Calgary’s 41 road games. The two in Calgary, a 4-2 Vegas win on 14 October and a 6-3 Flames win on 20 December, are in neither half.
Pick: Flames +235
Bet the Flames on the moneyline at +235. The gap is 10.4 points toward Calgary, against a threshold of 5.
The line opened at Golden Knights -290 and Flames +235 and had not moved when it was read on 14 October 2026 at 16:20 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN.
What kills the bet
A much shorter Flames price. At +195 or longer Calgary is a bet whatever Vegas is priced at. Against -290, it still clears the bar down to +161.
For the Golden Knights to become the bet, they would have to come out to -127 or longer. They are -290.
A bet on an underdog at this price will lose more often than it wins; the case is that +235 pays more than the risk warrants. The lineups are the other unknown, and this page states nothing about who plays for either team on 15 October. Check both before you bet.
The total and the puck line
The total is 5.5, over -130 and under +110. The Golden Knights’ games went over 5.5 in 47 of 82, the Flames’ in 43 of 82. Vegas’s home games averaged 6.66 goals, Calgary’s road games 5.95.
That is 57.3% and 52.4%, an average of 54.9%. The over at -130 is priced at 54.3% once the margin is removed. The gap is 0.6 points. Pass on the total.
The puck line is the widest gap on the page. Vegas is -1.5 at -120 and Calgary +1.5 at +100, which is 52.2% and 47.8% without the margin. The Golden Knights won by two goals or more in 23 of 82 games. The Flames lost by two or more in 33 of 82. Averaged, Vegas -1.5 lands 34.1% of the time against 52.2% priced. That is 18.1 points toward Flames +1.5 at +100. Our method bets the moneyline only, so this stays a lean, on the same side as the pick. One bet on this game: the Flames at +235.
