Pick the Rams -12.5 – Cardinals vs Rams prediction, odds and best picks
Los Angeles was 18 points a game better than Arizona last season and lays 12.5 at home. Take the Rams.
Is 12.5 too many for a team that is 2-3? I do not think so. DraftKings opened this game at Rams -13.5, and it is down a point since. I pass on the total, because my rule finds no edge there.
My number is plain arithmetic. I take each team’s points differential per game from last season, subtract one from the other, and set the result against the spread. Two points or more between my number and the market’s is a bet. Inside two points, I pass.
Pick: Rams on the spread
Los Angeles went 12-5 last season, scoring 518 and allowing 346. That is plus 172, or plus 10.1 a game. Arizona went 3-14, scoring 355 and allowing 488: minus 133, or minus 7.8 a game.
My number is Los Angeles by 17.9. The market asks for 12.5. The gap is 5.4 points, more than twice my bar.
Arizona came apart late. The Cardinals lost by 13 points or more six times last season, all six in their last nine games, and lost all six division games. The Rams won by 13 or more in eight of their 17.
The two meetings
Los Angeles won both last season: 45-17 in Arizona on 7 December 2025, and 37-20 at home on 4 January 2026.
Those are wins by 28 and by 17, and both clear this number. Our game records begin in 2025, so that is all of it.
The price
Nine of the 11 US sportsbooks in the read of 16 October have Los Angeles -12.5, priced from -102 at LowVig to -114 at BetRivers and William Hill. BetUS and MyBookie have -13. DraftKings has Rams -12.5 at -112 and the Cardinals +12.5 at -108.
At -110 the bet needs to win 52.4% of the time to break even, and at -114 it needs 53.3%. Take 12.5 over 13: a 13-point win is a push at -13 and a win at -12.5.
My rule backs Los Angeles at anything up to -15.5. At -16, I pass. Arizona does not become the bet until it is getting 20.
The doubt, and why I overrule it
This season is the case against. The Rams are 2-3 and have been outscored by one point: a 27-7 loss to San Francisco in Melbourne, a 28-6 home win over the Giants, 30-26 at Denver, a 24-20 win at Philadelphia, and 37-34 at home to Buffalo on Monday night. On those five games they are 0.2 points a game worse than their opponents.
Home has not been the edge it looks either. Los Angeles went 7-1 at home last season, scoring 28.9 a game and allowing 18.1, with its game in London left out. Only three of those seven home wins came by more than 12.5: 34-10 over New Orleans, 34-7 over Tampa Bay and 37-20 over Arizona.
On this season’s five games alone, Los Angeles is 10.6 points a game better, which is inside the 12.5. That is the real doubt. I overrule it, because the five games that make it close are the Rams’ and not Arizona’s. The Cardinals are 1-4, allowing 32.4 points a game after 28.7 last season. They lost 31-7 at home to Seattle and 45-21 at home to Detroit, and their one win, 26-14 at the Chargers, came in Week 1. Five games against seventeen: I stay with the 17-game number.
The total: a pass
The total is 51.5 at eight books and 52 at three. I am not betting it.
I run it the same way as the side: each team’s scoring last season against the other’s points allowed, averaged, then added. Arizona scored 20.9 and Los Angeles allowed 20.4. Los Angeles scored 30.5 and Arizona allowed 28.7. That comes to 50.25, which is 1.25 under the market and inside my bar.
DraftKings opened the total at 46.5 and has it at 51.5 now. The market has moved five points, and past my number on the way. The under becomes a bet at 52.5 and the over at 48. Neither is on the board.
The moneyline
The median of 11 books has Los Angeles at -833 and Arizona at +574. With the margin taken out, that prices the Cardinals to win 14.2% of the time.
I am not laying that. At -833 the Rams have to win 89.3% of the time just to break even, and my rule prices the spread, not the moneyline. Laying 12.5 at around -110 is the bet.
What would change it
The price, on my rule, only past 15.5. A line at -12 makes it a better bet. Read both injury reports before you place it: nothing in this piece says who is available.
Rams -12.5.
