The beginning of the 2022-23 NBA campaign is upon us. This is not only exciting for the league itself, but also for handicappers, as it means that there are opportunities to make bank. As always, there are several intriguing futures betting opportunities. One of the most fun futures bets is projecting the win total of the NBA Teams.
The Celtics have the highest win total at 53.5 wins. The Bucks have the second highest win total at 53 wins. The Clippers and Suns are next up with a win total set at 52.5 wins. Rounding out the top five, the Warriors win total is set at 52 wins.
San Antonio has the lowest win total in 2022-23 at over/under 22.5 victories, as the Spurs traded Dejounte Murray and lost Lonnie Walker IV in free agency. Houston, which won a league-low 20 games last season, along with Oklahoma City and Utah, are tied for the second-lowest win totals at over/under 23.5.
The Thunder won’t have the service of 2022 No. 22 draft pick Chet Holmgren, while the Jazz are in rebuild mode after trading Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Royce O’Neale, and Bojan Bogdanovic this offseason.
Eight teams won 50 or more games in 2021-22. Similarly, six teams won fewer than 30 games, with five totaling under 25 victories last year. The following are the five best win totals predictions for the upcoming season.
Philadelphia 76ers Over 52.5 Wins

The 76ers are expected to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, as they have one of the best starting lineups in the league, led by MVP candidate Joel Embiid.
Embiid has looked slimmer and more determined during the preseason after the Sixers postseason run ended in disappointment, as they fell to the Heat in six games in the Eastern Conference semifinals last season. James Harden also looks to be in better shape and Tyrese Maxey appears ready to take his game to the next level.
Moreover, Philadelphia, which has won at least 49 games in each of the last four full NBA seasons, upgraded its roster with the addition of De’Anthony Melton, PJ Tucker, and Montrezl Harrell.
Melton and Tucker should help the 76ers improve their 3-point shooting and they won’t hurt them defensively. Harrell will provide the Sixers with much-needed energy, rebounding, and interior scoring off the bench.
Golden State Warriors Over 52 Wins

There is not much to say about the defending NBA champions except that they are healthier and deeper than last year’s team that won 52 regular season games.
James Wiseman, who has the ability to be a difference maker and Klay Thompson are slated to be ready to go from the start. The Warriors added a couple of nice bench pieces in Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green during the offseason, while Moses Moody has shown improvement from his rookie season during training camp.
There is a little bit of concern about team chemistry following the Draymond Green-Jordan Poole incident. However, Steve Kerr has been very good at managing issues during his tenure. The Dubs have won 50 or more games in six of Kerr’s eight seasons.
Charlotte Hornets Under 34 Wins

While most of the Eastern Conference took a step forward, the Hornets were not one of them. Charlotte is still a very young team and their star forward, Miles Bridges, is still dealing with his domestic violence arrest this summer. It’s unknown whether he will play this season.
Their other star LaMelo Ball will miss at least the first month of the season with an ankle injury. Plus, coach Steve Clifford has his work cut out to try to fix the Hornets’ several defensive deficiencies. Charlotte ranked in the bottom third of the NBA in scoring defense, defensive shooting percentage and three-point defense.
Dallas Mavericks Under 48.5 Wins

The Mavericks are coming off a season where they won over 50 games during the regular season for the first time since 2010-11 and surprisingly reached the semifinals of the Western Conference. However, Jalen Brunson took his talent to New York, so there are questions about where points will come from other than Luka Doncic.
They did add Christian Wood, who has played well the last two seasons though he has not spent much time on winning teams and his defense is a major issue.
Speaking of Doncic, he has missed at least ten games every season in his career and the 23-year-old point guard spent part of this summer with the Slovenian National Team. So, injuries and workload management could derail the 23-year-old. Last year was the only time Kidd has won more than 45 games in six years as a head coach.
Denver Nuggets Over 50.5 Wins

The Nuggets have been one of the most efficient offensive teams since coach Michael Malone took over the team. Two-time league MVP Nikola Jokic continues to lead the way. Jamal Murray is finally healthy after missing over 100 games the past three seasons. Plus, Denver is potentially playing in the worst division in the NBA.
