Nuggets vs Thunder Best Pick, Prediction and Odds

Bet the Nuggets at +240. Our number gives Denver on the road 40.2%; the price gives them 28.2%.

The Denver Nuggets are +240 and the Oklahoma City Thunder -298 at DraftKings. With the margin out, that is 28.2% for Denver and 71.8% for Oklahoma City. Last season’s home and road records put Denver 12.0 points higher than that. We bet at 5.

How 40.2% is reached

Our home win chance is the average of two 2025-26 rates: the home team’s win rate in its own arena and the visitor’s loss rate on the road. Games at a neutral site are in neither half; Oklahoma City played one, Denver none.

The Thunder went 34-7 at Paycom Center, an 82.9% home win rate over 41 games. The Nuggets went 26-15 on the road and lost 15 of 41, a 36.6% road loss rate. The midpoint is 59.8% for Oklahoma City and 40.2% for Denver.

The margin is the extra a book builds into both prices so the pair comes to more than 100%. At +240 and -298 they come to 104.3%. Taken out, the Nuggets are 28.2% and the Thunder 71.8%.

Oklahoma City opened 2026-27 with a 116-104 win at San Antonio on 20 October; Denver has not played yet. Our number reads 2025-26 only, so that game is not in it. Rosters change over a summer, and the number does not see that either. That is the main risk in this bet.

Oklahoma City at home, Denver on the road

At home the Thunder scored 119.1 points a game and allowed 107.3, a surplus of 11.8. The Nuggets on the road scored 123.3 and allowed 118.6, a surplus of 4.7.

The halves the method leaves out: Denver at home went 28-13, scoring 120.8 and allowing 115.2. Oklahoma City on the road went 30-10, scoring 119.2 and allowing 108.3.

Over the full season, the Thunder finished 64-18, first in the West, and outscored opponents by 914 points, 11.1 a game. The Nuggets finished 54-28, third, and outscored opponents by 422 points, 5.1 a game. In the playoffs Oklahoma City beat the Phoenix Suns 4-0 and the Los Angeles Lakers 4-0 before losing to the San Antonio Spurs 4-3, and Denver lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-2.

The Thunder won three of the four meetings. In Oklahoma City, the Thunder won 127-121 on 27 February and 129-126 on 9 March; those games are in our number: two of the Thunder’s 41 home games and two of the Nuggets’ 41 road games. In Denver, the Thunder won 121-111 on 1 February and the Nuggets won 127-107 on 10 April; those are in neither half.

Pick: Nuggets +240

Bet the Nuggets on the moneyline at +240. The gap is 12.0 points toward Denver, against a threshold of 5.

The line read Nuggets +240 and Thunder -298 on 21 October 2026 at 05:50 UTC, DraftKings via ESPN. It opened at Nuggets +225 and Thunder -278, so it has moved toward Oklahoma City since.

What kills the bet

A shorter Denver price. At +185 or longer the Nuggets are a bet whatever Oklahoma City is priced at; with the Thunder at -298, they stay a bet down to +146.

For the Thunder to become the bet, the market would have to give them 54.8% or less with the margin out. It gives them 71.8%.

ESPN’s injury list for the game, read 21 October 2026 at 05:51 UTC, has Thomas Sorber (knee), Nikola Topic (back) and Otega Oweh (Achilles) out for Oklahoma City, and Julian Strawther (knee) out and Spencer Jones (hamstring) day-to-day for Denver. The NBA has no key-player rule in our method, so the list does not change the number. Check the injury report again before tip-off.

Our number still gives Denver a 59.8% chance of losing. The case is that the price pays more than that risk warrants, on last season’s evidence.

The total and the spread

The total is 234.5, over -115 and under -105. The Thunder’s games went over 234.5 in 27 of 82, the Nuggets’ in 51 of 82. Oklahoma City’s home games averaged 226.4 points, Denver’s road games 241.9.

That is 32.9% and 62.2%, an average of 47.6% for the over. With the margin removed the over is priced at 51.1% and the under at 48.9%, so our count leans to the under by 3.5 points. Our method stakes the moneyline only, so this is a lean, not a bet.

The spread is Thunder -8.5 at -105 and Nuggets +8.5 at -115; it opened Thunder -7.5. Oklahoma City won by 9 or more in 46 of 82 games. Denver won, or lost by 8 or fewer, in 72 of 82. Averaged, Thunder -8.5 lands 34.1% of the time against 48.9% priced, a gap of 14.8 points toward Nuggets +8.5. That is a lean too. One bet on this game: the Nuggets at +240.
