App State Mountaineers

The Mountaineers were underdogs only nine times in 2025-26 and their eight priced moneylines in that spot made 6.99 units; only 31 Division I teams made more as underdogs. They allowed 66.06 points a game, a figure only 18 teams bettered.

Small sample, big prices

App State won four of nine games as an underdog and covered six. The two December road-and-neutral wins did most of the work: 86-78 over High Point at +575 in the Hickory Hoops Classic and 67-54 at East Carolina at +164. The third, 66-44 at Troy at +260, was a 22-point road win. An 81-73 win at Old Dominion at +100 completed the set.

December finished 5-1 with four covers in five and 7.85 units. Across all 29 priced games, one unit a game made 5.69 units, 38 teams more.

Laying points

As favorites, 21 times, the Mountaineers went 13-8 and covered 11, and the 21 priced moneylines lost 1.30 units. Home losses at -410 to Georgia State, -305 to Old Dominion and -240 to Elon (53-88) were the costliest.

Defense and the under

Holding opponents to 66.06 a game kept totals low: 18 unders against 12 overs, 60%; 54 teams went under more often. The 66-44 Troy game finished 27.5 points under its total.

Home and road

At home: 11-4, seven covers in 13, and 0.64 units lost on 13 priced games despite the record. On the road: 7-7, nine covers in 14, and 1.58 units on 14 priced games.

Marshall won both meetings, the second 94-93 at App State with the Mountaineers -185. Georgia State split two: a 63-70 home loss at -410 in December, a 52-50 road win in January. Georgia Southern lost both, both covers.

The end

App State lost three of its last four, the last 73-86 to Southern Miss in the Sun Belt quarterfinal at -205, the same team it had beaten 70-63 on the road in January.
