Where it came from

The opening game set it up: on 3 November the Privateers won 78-74 at TCU, getting 21.5 points and +2500. Eleven days later they won 85-63 at Tulane at +550. November finished 2-5 straight up and 27.5 units ahead.

Southland opponents

Houston Christian and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi each beat New Orleans twice in three meetings; the Islanders’ second win was the Southland quarterfinal that ended the season. Lamar and Incarnate Word lost both meetings and New Orleans covered all four.
